I’ve been getting loads of calls and texts about some loan I supposedly missed payments on with the Bank of Melbourne. Thing is, I’ve never even taken out a loan with them?! Really confusing and a bit worrying!

Got a text telling me to pay my account in full immediately, with a reference number and an old-fashioned landline to call. Tried ringing the mobile 0420101937 first, but it never connected. Then phoned the landline from a different phone, a woman with an Aussie accent picked up and asked for the reference number. I gave her a made-up one and she just hung up straight away. Tried again, same woman answered, I asked who she was, she said something like IEC company. Told her they sounded like scammers and she dropped the call. Next call, some bloke with an Indian or Asian accent answered, asked for my name. I asked who he was, he gave me a different company name. When I asked if they were scammers, he disconnected. Called another time, same guy but he just hung up right away without saying a word. Absolute scammers. Hope they get what's coming to them.

On the morning of Saturday 23/02/19 around 11:10, I got a text claiming to be from some debt collectors related to eBay. It said something like, "Hi #### (my name), CLH Group wants you to sort out a payment plan on their portal so this doesn't get any worse," followed by a suspicious link: https://ebay,collectionhouse.com.au/sign-in/3y190i2k131X3Q193p1O1Q2s213U3L0f2H1_3V0P1g0B2g3e0m0T2o1e1u1d141n. I copied and pasted the link into a private browser tab, but the page was nowhere to be found. I’ve since blocked the number to avoid any more dodgy messages.

IGNORE THIS CALL: There’s a dodgy caller pretending to be from a company called SunCorp, trying to con people out of their money. Got a strange call about Christmas premiums or something - total rubbish. They even gave me a fake account number to call and pay some unknown fees. The owner of this 0420 101 937 number can forget any Christmas fun from me this year, they’re definitely playing dirty. Scam alert - full marks for trying, but zero for honesty.

Some total muppet is using my phone number to try and scam me about insurance debt for a company I've never dealt with, and never will. They’re trying to extort money from me, threatening to send me to collections if I don’t pay up for something that’s not even mine. It's almost Christmas, and this dodgy number, which has more than 50 complaints, is definitely a scam. Avoid it!

Just got this message saying "Your St George loan payment of $223.26 is overdue. Have you forgotten to pay?" Haha, watch out and don’t ring that number if you really have a loan with St George. It’s best to contact the official number and explain what's going on!

Somebody sent me a text saying they needed to chat, but they didn’t say who they actually were.

They kept saying there’s an account with St George but that’s not true at all. Watch out, it’s a scam! If you answer, they might end up hacking into your phone. Be careful.

Got this text saying I owed £306, sounded a bit sketchy to me so I replied telling them to sort it out in 5 minutes or else.

I got a text from this number about a missed payment of $195. After that, I kept getting calls from a private number, and the person said they were from St George concerning my loan with Bank Of Melbourne. She wanted my date of birth and address before going any further. I refused to give any info, and then she just ended the call.

Got a call saying I owe money on a loan from Cash Converters and need to pay through BPAY. Rang Cash Converters and they said they don't handle loans like that. Total rip-off, watch out!

Weirdly, I got a message about owing $848.10 to St George Bank, but honestly, I don’t recall ever having an account there. Sounds fishy to me, probably some scam going on.

Got a call from some dodgy lot claiming I haven’t paid my loan, what a laugh!

I got a message saying I hadn’t paid a loan, but I don’t even have a loan account online and everything looks fine there. Pretty confusing!

Got a text from this number saying I owe money to AGL, which I don't. They said they were from Collection House but it seems really fishy. I called AGL and they told me they always tell you exactly what you owe if they contact you. Definitely looks dodgy to me. WATCH OUT!
