9 yearsThis number keeps ringing me and it’s becoming rather annoying!9 yearsGot a call from a dodgy number, pretty sure it was scammers. Ended up telling them to get lost quite bluntly.11 yearsGot a call from some bloke with an Indian accent trying to sound all official with fake English names, telling me to switch on my computer 'cause he's from "Windows Technical Help". Nah mate, no way I’m falling for that rubbish!11 yearsWhenever someone inquires about me by name, I kindly inform them that I'm a mortician and I'm merely here to collect the remains. It does the trick splendidly!11 yearsI got called three times in like five minutes by a man with an Indian accent who said his name was Barry. He claimed he was calling from Windows and that I had to do some kind of security check on my computer right away. Told him I was busy and couldn’t do it at the moment, but he just got rude and said, “Just do it now!” So I hung up. Then he rang me straight away again, and when I hung up a second time, he called right back once more. Proper annoying. He said he’d phone again after 6pm - really hope he doesn’t bother. 84 years old here.BarryBlimey11 yearsAs a volunteer for Age Cymru, dedicated to raising awareness about scams, I feel compelled to share my recent encounter. An Indian chap rang me up, inquiring if I had 'Windows' on my device. I replied affirmatively, and he proceeded to discuss an alleged issue with it. He then requested that I search for 'SUPREMO' on Google. I promptly told him to remove himself from my line and not to attempt contacting me again.Age CymruGoogle11 yearsGot a call from some bloke in India, total muppet.India11 yearsGot a call from someone with a heavy Indian accent, sounded like they were in a busy call centre somewhere abroad. They started asking about my computer but I told them I didn’t even own one - said I was having issues with my bike instead. We went back and forth, with them trying to help me fix my bicycle of all things. After a pointless chat, they just said “okay then, sir, goodbye” and told me to hang up. What a waste of time!11 yearsGot a call from someone called Shirley, sounded like she had an Indian accent, claiming to be from tech support. I made it clear straight away that I wasn't falling for it and told her to stop calling, then ended the call. It baffles me how these lot keep harassing us, especially when we’re ex-directory and signed up to the TPS. Why do they get away with it?ShirleyTPS11 yearsJust had a look into the TPS and turns out they only deal with unwanted sales calls, not scam calls. So signing up with TPS won’t really stop scammers. They recommend you report any dodgy calls to the Police or Trading Standards instead.TPS11 yearsReceived a dodgy call from some scammers using a phony number. I told them rather firmly to "take a hike" in a rather direct way. The bloke on the other end had the audacity to ask, "You've got a Windows PC, haven't you?" before even letting me speak!11 yearsI received a call from this number the other day, and lo and behold, the chap on the other end started prattling on about computer glitches and how he could assist me. So, I decided to have a bit of fun and told him my computer had totally conked out and was stuck in an eternal reboot loop. He then insisted that my machine had a unique serial number that logs when it’s malfunctioning and proceeded to rattle off a lengthy number that he claimed was mine. He said he’d ring back in thirty minutes, which he duly did. I put on my best poker face and told him it was still kaput and off to the repair shop it was going. Not sure he was too chuffed, as he promptly hung up! Haha! Scammers: nil Clever clogs: one! Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!11 yearsI was fortunate this time as the voicemail took care of it! 😄 Generally, if I don’t recognise the number, I just let it keep ringing.11 yearsI received a rather alarming phone call from this number today, with the caller claiming that my computer's license was at risk of being cancelled due to numerous errors they had supposedly detected. They stated that this could lead to serious issues with my Microsoft applications and might even result in a complete system crash. When I expressed my doubts about the authenticity of their claims, the person on the other end abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me!Microsoft11 yearsI told that Shirley from Windows to butt out, how come they’re allowed to keep doing this stuff? It’s ridiculous!Shirley11 yearsInformed us that these individuals were required to offload our Millwall holding shares.Millwall11 yearsThis number has buzzed me like four times over the past couple of days. The first call was this bloke trying to get me to sit at my computer. I told him nicely my computer was alright, then hung up. Barely two minutes later, the same fella phoned back - he was Asian - and when I told him to stop calling, he actually told me to shut my bloody mouth and listen! I gave him a bit of a piece of my mind and hung up. Now, they’ve called me twice again today. Honestly, it's starting to bother me quite a lot.11 yearsEven though I've blocked the number, they keep ringing me every now and then. When I checked on 1471, it shows the same number as the caller ID. We all know there are firms here in the UK that assist these callers from places like India or Sri Lanka to make cheap calls. I’m guessing it’s these companies who might also be selling lists of unlisted numbers or something like that. Might need to track down those folks instead.UKIndiaSri Lanka11 yearsI put a stop to this caller a few months back. If it isn't one mob of troublemakers, it's another. The Indians certainly know how to pester, but the Irish aren't far behind either! It's a right pickle, as these blokes just won't take no for an answer!11 yearsThis is clearly a ruse from Windows, isn’t it? You might as well have a bit of a laugh with them while playing a bit thick. I’ll often pop them on loudspeaker and let them rant away while I dish out vague and clueless responses. You could even say you’ve got to dash off for a moment because your doorbell’s gone off and then make yourself a lovely cuppa. More often than not, those pesky scammers will still be on the line, waffling away. After a little while of them spinning their yarn, just hit them with the classic, “Oh, I use a Mac!” At that point, they tend to hang up real quick! They want to fill my time with nonsense? I’ll gladly return the favour! Have a giggle, but remember-never divulge any personal information!11 yearsReceived an unexpected call from this number. As soon as I realised it was a scam, I made it clear to the caller not to bother me again and ended the conversation. However, they persisted and rang several more times, which I just ignored. Eventually, when I did pick up the phone, they launched into a lengthy spiel and rattled off some seemingly random digits-so many, in fact, that I lost track after 25!. They tried to convince me that I could verify the number, promising they would ring back the next day. I firmly told them not to bother calling again. Curiously, I’ve had similar calls weekly in the past, but those ceased when I told them we didn't own a computer!11 yearsOn Saturday, the 22nd of August 2015, I received yet another call from this number. The caller claimed he was facing an issue where someone had breached his computer security and insisted that I power my device on so he could guide me through the steps to resolve it. I promptly responded, saying, "Oh dear, it seems I've been hacked as well! I really ought to ring the police." Then, to my dismay, the same obnoxious person had the audacity to phone me again today, still pressuring me to turn on my computer. I told him I’d already contacted the police and that this whole thing reeked of a scam (which, to be honest, I hadn’t done). He brazenly declared that the UK police were ineffectual and foolish, which infuriated me to no end. I unleashed a torrent of expletives at him; he had the gall to say that all Brits are daft. I regret to admit my language was quite colourful before he finally decided to hang up!UK11 yearsI received a rather amusing call yesterday from a woman named Shirley. You know the drill - she mentioned her firm had been alerted to some issues with my computer. I couldn’t resist throwing in a witty remark about whether she thought I’d dropped in from the last rainstorm! She seemed quite taken aback, so I simply said ta-ta and hung up. I was quite astonished that I managed to trace the number using 1471.Shirley11 yearsReceived a rather peculiar call on my parents' phone the other day. The chap on the line insisted he wanted to discuss something about a computer. Since my folks were away, I mentioned there was no computer at home. He then claimed it was a laptop-presumably a lucky guess since they do own one. I kept insisting there was no computer, and to my astonishment, he wished death upon my wife! I had a chuckle since I’m not even married. Then he took it a step further and said he hoped my children would die too, which made me laugh again (as I have no children). He just wouldn’t quit, so I carried on laughing to annoy him further. Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked if he was in the UK. His response was a vehement disdain for us Brits. We went back and forth like this until he finally hung up, but I wasn't about to give him the pleasure of ending the call myself. What a nasty piece of work he was! I'd love to confront him in a dark alley one day. His English was quite articulate, though I’d wager he had a Pakistani accent (no offence meant; just my observation). I sincerely hope they’re recording these calls to work on their customer service skills! Honestly, the best outcome would be for him to lose his voice for good!UK11 yearsThis number rang me up claiming my computer was infected with a virus and offered to fix it for me. I sat there and played along, pretending my computer was just booting up slowly, and kept the guy chatting for around 16 minutes before he finally threw in the towel, haha. Now I've made it my little challenge to see how long I can mess with these muppets on the phone! My best so far is 22 minutes - still going for a new record!11 yearsGot a call from someone with a strong foreign accent today, kept going on about my computer. They ring me no less than 10 times! I told them I’m on the TPS and asked them nicely to stop, but they just wouldn’t take the hint. Properly annoying how persistent they were.Telephone Preference Service11 yearsI keep getting calls at all hours, and it's either someone being rude or complete silence when I pick up. They keep pestering me about my computer, but honestly, there's nothing wrong with it and I haven’t made any complaints to anyone! Plus, I'm ex-directory, so it's a bit baffling as to how they’ve got my number.11 yearsToday I received yet another call from this so-called "gentleman" - I use that term very loosely, mind you. He claimed he was reaching out to assist me with an issue on my computer (apparently something to do with Windows). I kindly explained that I didn’t require his assistance, as my computer is routinely scanned for viruses and kept updated. I also asked him to remove my contact information from his records. Suddenly, his tone shifted into something rather rude and confrontational. He went on about how his company was becoming increasingly annoyed with alerts stating my computer was malfunctioning, insisting he would continue to call me daily - multiple times at that - whether it be at the crack of dawn or even in the dead of night, until I logged onto my computer and acted upon his dubious advice. This buffoon doesn't scare me in the slightest, but I do worry for the elderly and more vulnerable folks who have to contend with such despicable individuals.11 yearsI received a rather forceful call from a foreign gentleman today. When I put him on speaker, my kids heard him threatening to ring me repeatedly until midnight! I couldn’t help but chuckle and ended the call. To my amazement, I was able to trace the number using 1471.11 yearsI’ve been receiving calls from this number repeatedly. I choose not to pick up, but it’s becoming quite irritating. My number is not listed publicly, so I’m left wondering how they managed to get hold of it!11 yearsNo idea who they are, really couldn’t care less. Honestly, just shoot em.11 yearsJust got a call today from this number, 23/07/2015. The caller claimed to be from the Windows Support Team and said there was an issue with my PC. They asked me to log in so they could fix it. Don’t fall for this - it’s a scam to steal your login info and private details. I’ve reported it to the police through Action Fraud.BEWAREWindowsAction Fraud11 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft Tech, saying they could remove intruders and viruses from my PC. Pretty sure it was a total rip-off. They wanted me to visit a website that supposedly helped, but obviously it was just a way to sneak a trojan into my computer. I pretended to go along for a bit, then mentioned a message popped up telling me to ring the cops. Suddenly, the line cut off and I never heard back from them. Still puzzled by that!MicrosoftPolice11 yearsALERT: Just received a dodgy phone call today, 23rd July 2015, from someone claiming to represent the Windows Service Centre. They insisted there was an issue with my computer and urged me to log in so they could 'help'. It's clearly a SCAM aimed at stealing your personal information and passwords. I strongly advise against falling for it. I've reported this to the authorities through the Action Fraud website. Stay vigilant!ALERTAction Fraud11 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be from a computer support company. I decided to mess with them a bit and it seemed to really frustrate the caller. After a while, they let slip that they were actually phoning from Sri Lanka. Quite the scam!Sri Lanka11 yearsReceived a dodgy call today from a supposed tech support team claiming to be based in Sri Lanka. I decided to have a bit of fun and string them along for a bit, but eventually, the chap on the other end got quite irate, telling me to 'go and kick the bucket'. Quite a laugh, really!Sri Lanka11 yearsIt seems that on a typical week, I'm inundated with calls-around five, if I'm honest-all seeking a certain Mr Tuxford. Each time, when I inform them that he doesn't reside here, they always inquire if I'm the owner of the line. I foolishly admitted once that I was, and I've regretted it ever since. Now, when they ask, I simply respond that I'm a tenant. When that tactic began to fail, I resorted to blowing a whistle down the line at 120+ decibels; I can only imagine the earache I caused someone in the process! Just recently, I had an encounter with a caller sporting a foreign accent who was after the elusive Tuxford. Upon my confirmation that there was no one by that name here, he turned quite hostile. I probed further and learned that they weren't affiliated with any company-just an irate individual. His aggression only escalated... Next time, it's definitely a blast of the whistle coming his way!Tuxford11 yearsAt first the bloke kept getting random error messages, so he was convinced he had the upper hand. Then I absolutely tore into him. The cheeky git even kept calling back, trying to get me to say sorry!!!11 yearsI got a call from someone named Shirley asking if I’ve been getting loads of annoying calls lately. I said yeah, kind of like the one she was making right now. Then I told her I wasn’t interested and asked her to stop phoning me and to remove my details from whatever list she had.Shirley11 yearsRecently, I received a call from someone who introduced themselves as Mike or Michael, claiming to be from Windows Microsoft. According to him, my computer was sending alerts directly to him. About five weeks ago, I had an unfortunate experience with a company that swindled me out of £97, supposedly to resolve some pesky pop-up ads that had taken over every website I visited. They didn't manage to fix anything, and thankfully, I've since taken my laptop to a local tech shop. They confirmed that I had been dealing with crooks and assured me that such firms would never be linked with a reputable organisation. It's just outrageous!MikeMichaelMicrosoft11 yearsOn the 1st of July 2015, around 6 in the evening, I got a call from a man named James Watson, sounding like he had an Indian accent. He was pushing some sort of gadget that hooks onto your landline and blocks sales calls, priced at £99.99. He promised it’d be delivered within two days. Wasn’t very polite at all when I said I wasn’t interested in buying it.James Watson11 yearsI've just encountered a rather peculiar scam that I'm not accustomed to. A chap with a strong foreign twang, calling himself James, just rang me up claiming he could assist with those pesky unwanted calls. He insisted I fetch a pen and paper to jot down some details. At that point, I decided it was best to end the call.James11 yearsI've been getting loads of calls from them and they just won't stop. She said there was a serious virus and their tech team needed to fix it, but I told her no thanks. Then she threatened to cancel my licence.11 yearsI received a call from an overseas chap claiming my computer was infested with viruses and that he could sort it out for me via phone. I queried how he managed to obtain all that information about my system and questioned how he had access to my personal details. Then, I asked him if he genuinely thought I would fall for such a scam. I promptly ended the call.11 yearsI experienced something quite similar today. A chap rang me once, claiming to be from some tech support, and requested I answer a few queries. I was rather taken aback and hung up. A mere ten seconds later, he was back on the line, and once again, I decided to terminate the call. On his third attempt, he had the audacity to ask me if I was 'thick or just completely clueless.' I maintained my composure and politely requested that he refrain from speaking to me in that manner. Unfortunately, he then took a turn for the worse, hurling insults my way and disrespecting my mother. I queried whether he even knew her, to which he responded with even more venom. I firmly told him to never call me again before hanging up. My father tried to reach the number, but he couldn’t get through. These incessant calls are absolutely ridiculous and must be put to an end!11 yearsI got a call from this exact number but luckily I have call guardian so I never even heard my phone ring. The most recent call came through on Saturday morning (30/5/15) while I was visiting. She promptly said no thank you and requested that they refrain from calling again. To our astonishment, not even half a minute later, the phone rang once more, and the bloke on the line started demanding to know why she hung up. I took the phone from her, asked him who he was and for his contact number, but he flat-out refused to provide any details. When I picked up, there was no response on the other end. Honestly, the lack of courtesy is astounding; one might think they've come from the dregs of society! So, take my advice: steer clear of this phone number!12 yearsI received a phone call from someone keen to discuss my pension arrangements. I mentioned that I didn’t have a pension, and then inquired about where he had sourced my details. The chap, who had a distinctly American accent, informed me that he had retrieved my information from publicly available resources online.12 yearsI received a call from someone claiming to be from Windows, saying there was an issue with my computer. I was quite sceptical and expressed my doubts, but he kept pushing me to comply with his guidance to resolve the so-called problems. Naturally, I refused to heed his advice and let him know that I had done a quick search on his number online. Just like that, the line went quiet! How convenient!12 yearsReceived a call from this number regarding a supposed issue with my computer. I then dialled 1471 to trace it, and it informed me that, "Apologies, the previous call was from a network that couldn’t share caller IDs." It’s odd how my caller display managed to capture this number, but at least it did!13 yearsThese blokes are nothing but a bunch of timewasters, honestly!13 yearsI reckon it’s a right scam involving Microsoft Windows. It’s quite amusing to just pretend you’re a bit clueless and mess about with them for some time. I like to put them on loudspeaker and let them ramble on, responding with vague and rather silly replies. I often tell them to hang on a tick because my doorbell’s gone off, then I’ll pop off to make myself a lovely cuppa. Typically, those cheeky scammers are still on the line by the time I return! After they've had their fill of drivel, I simply mention that I use a Mac. You can usually count on that response to send them packing! They waste my time, so I’ll happily return the favour! Have a giggle but steer clear of sharing any personal info.13 yearsSomeone claiming to represent Windows got in touch, saying there’s an issue with my PC. Total scam, if you ask me.Submit Your Own Report (4048915588)
