This number is the one that sends you the codes for TSB Internet Banking. It's totally legit, but if you weren’t expecting a code, there’s usually an option in the call to report it as unexpected. Just keep in mind, scammers sometimes copy real numbers to trick people, so always stay cautious.

Got a call from a recorded woman, no accent, saying she was from mobile banking. Said I requested an account, which I definitely didn’t. She gave me a number and told me to call back and press star, which I didn’t do. I hung up quick, annoyed, before I could write down the number. I’ve reported it to TPS but they didn’t seem bothered. Got a call at 18:41 on the 15th of Nov, said it was from TSB saying my account was hacked 3 times in Manchester. They asked loads of questions, then wanted me to input a 4 digit code. I didn’t do it and checked my account, everything was fine.

Got a call from someone pretending to be TSB; if you press certain keys, they actually connect you to the genuine TSB. Seems like they might be eavesdropping to try and catch your bank details and get into your account. Lucky for them, we don’t have any active TSB accounts anymore - they were shut down years ago and hold no funds. We've added this number to our 1572 blacklist to block it straight away.

BEWARE, IT'S A TOTAL SCAM!!! I keep getting these calls and even random people turning up at my front door.
First off, never deal with strangers who show up unannounced or ring you without you asking.
Secondly, don’t share any personal details or confirm anything about yourself, especially bank info - keep that locked down.
Also, never share your birthday, and when signing up on social media, use a fake DOB if they insist.
Never ever hand out your National Insurance number either.
If someone calls claiming they’re just giving help or advice but you don’t know them, it’s almost certainly a scam.
And if they say you owe money, just hang up immediately and call your bank from a different phone, or better yet, go see them in person to be safe.

I got a call from 0345 8353847 last night around 10.30pm, it was the automatic OTP from TSB. I was trying to log into my TSB account, and this number called me back with my one-time password, allowing me to access my account without any problems. Earlier that day, TSB was having some technical issues. When this same number rang me then, there was no automated voice giving the OTP, so I couldn’t log in at all. Plus, the iPad I was using just showed an error message about the technical difficulties.

The voice said something about arranging a new payment through some third party and then gave a one-time password, telling me not to share it with anyone. If you want to listen again, it said press 1 or something like that. Definitely sounded dodgy to me.

I've noticed this number does actually send out TSB one-time passcodes, so it’s legit in that sense. But there's a chance someone’s faking it, like spoofing the number. Something weird happened a few times this October 2020 - I'd get a call from this proper TSB number right after getting a call that shows as ‘unavailable’ but it wouldn't ring or even leave a voicemail. It’s tricky to know what to make of it, because sometimes it seems fine, other times it might be dodgy.

They never said who they were either. Seems like a scam to me. Watch out, especially if you’re using Sky Talk Shield, because pressing the star might mean the calls get through straight away.

Like others have mentioned, I got a call saying I’d tried to change my online banking details. Panicking, I dumbly called back straight away, but I dialled the wrong account number, which kept rejecting me. Then the line just played a weird ringing sound, not like a proper call centre. I hung up and phoned my bank using the number on the card from my mobile. They told me nobody had contacted me and the info I gave was useless to them. Just before midnight on 15/5/18, my BT call blocker stopped about 10 calls coming from this number. I decided to ring back the next morning (16/5/18) and a lady with a Scottish accent warned me that "Calls are recorded" before connecting me to a bloke named Ahmed, who spoke with a North East accent. He started asking for my sort code, account number and address, but I didn’t give any details as I wasn’t confident he was really from TSB. When I questioned him about the number, he claimed it matched the one on the back of my card, which obviously wasn’t true! The number is quite similar to TSB’s official Credit Card Customer Services line listed on their site: 0345 835 3846.
