I got a call from 0345 8353847 last night around 10.30pm, it was the automatic OTP from TSB. I was trying to log into my TSB account, and this number called me back with my one-time password, allowing me to access my account without any problems. Earlier that day, TSB was having some technical issues. When this same number rang me then, there was no automated voice giving the OTP, so I couldn’t log in at all. Plus, the iPad I was using just showed an error message about the technical difficulties.

The voice said something about arranging a new payment through some third party and then gave a one-time password, telling me not to share it with anyone. I've noticed this number does actually send out TSB one-time passcodes, so it’s legit in that sense. But there's a chance someone’s faking it, like spoofing the number. Something weird happened a few times this October 2020 - I'd get a call from this proper TSB number right after getting a call that shows as ‘unavailable’ but it wouldn't ring or even leave a voicemail. It’s tricky to know what to make of it, because sometimes it seems fine, other times it might be dodgy.

Similarly to what previous reporters have mentioned, I attempted to modify my internet banking services. In a panicked state, I foolishly called a telephone number but mistakenly entered the wrong account information. This number repeatedly informed me that the details were incorrect, and eventually led to a ringing sound rather than connecting to a call center. Realizing my mistake, I hung up and dialed my bank directly using the number provided on my card. They reassured me that no one had called me, and confirmed that the information I had unknowingly shared was not usable. My BT call blocker stopped 10 calls from this particular number shortly before midnight on the 15th of May in 2018. I decided to call back this morning and was greeted by a Scottish lady who mentioned that the calls were being recorded. I then got transferred to someone named Ahmed who had a North Eastern accent. He asked for sensitive information such as my account number, sort code, and address. Understandably, I refused to provide this information as I was unsure if he was truly part of TSB. When I questioned the authenticity of the number, Ahmed claimed it was the same as the one on the back of my card. However, it turned out that this was not the case. The number in question is somewhat similar to TSB's credit card customer services number on their website: 0345 835 3846.
