My grandmother received a couple of calls from this number, with the caller claiming to be from Microsoft. They were saying that her computer was under threat from hackers who were trying to access it via her internet connection. They urged her to switch on her computer and remove certain files to avert a hacking incident. Naturally, we didn’t follow their instructions, but it did catch my attention that her security software had just expired. Seems a bit too coincidental, don’t you think?
