Unknown number. My mobile flagged it as possible spam, so I decided not to pick up.

I usually get 2 calls daily from these lot. Today ive had 3 already. If i manage to answer before it hangs up, which is like 10 seconds max, i quickly pick up then put it down straight away. Hoping that makes them pay for the call. I'm in the Birmingham region.

They’ve rung me about 5 times today. I’ve actually blocked the number but my phone still picked them up and flagged it as "possible spam". If these so-called smart meters are really that good, why are they being pushed on everyone like this? Feels a bit dodgy to me!

Got a second call from them today, supposedly SSE offering a free smart meter installation. When I mentioned I believed all installs were free anyway, they seemed a bit annoyed and claimed they couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t be interested. The call was from an Indian call centre.

Someone said they were from SSE, saying they were updating old smart meters, had an Indian accent and loads of background noise like a call centre. Sounds like a scam to me, even though they knew my name! Called at 9.42am from 03457226644.

This was definitely SSE calling, but I wouldn’t suggest saying yes to anything if it’s a random cold call. Better to not even say your name. It’s not a dodgy number, but I’d still say block it just in case. Also, once the situation with Ukraine sorts itself out, it might be a good idea to check out other suppliers too.
