Someone called saying they were NatWest’s Fraud Department, then rang me again from a blocked number. They told me there was suspicious activity on my bank account. When I asked for proof of who they were, they tried to convince me by giving my postcode (which was actually wrong), mentioned the first digits of a NatWest card, and said I’d logged into internet banking on an Android device. I questioned them on these details, and they just got annoyed and ended the call.

Interestingly, just a few days prior, I had received a dodgy text purporting to be from the post office, insisting they were attempting to deliver a parcel and requesting my bank information. It made me really suspicious, so I ended the call straight away. When I tried calling the number back, it just said it was no longer in service.

Got a call from this number and then a text off 03457888444 - turns out it's the same number NatWest puts on the back of your cards. The person said they were from NatWest saying I’d been frauded, related to a dodgy NHS text I got earlier this week from number 07759129390. I got a call from someone claiming to be with Barclays Security. They said there were some suspicious purchases at Argos in Scotland and tried to convince me I needed to update my bank details and sort code. Don’t be fooled by this - banks don’t get in touch like that. The person sounded convincing, but I always make sure to double-check by calling the bank directly. They also mentioned I’d get another call in 20 to 30 minutes to confirm the changes, but no follow-up call came through. I’ve since blocked the number just to be safe.
