Got a recorded call this morning claiming to be Natwest about some fraud. Also received a couple of very similar text messages. They knew my full name, which is a bit worrying, but I don’t actually have an account with them. I’m going to need to look up the account number they mentioned though, as the signer on that account is linked to some others I know of.

This felt legit, probably from NatWest's fraud department. They rang me but I missed it, then not long after I got a message from NatWest about a payment I’d actually made the previous day. The text asked if I wanted to confirm it, with Y for yes and N for no. Since the info matched the carpenter who’d just done some work at my place, I replied Y. Right away, I saw a notification pop up at the top of my phone showing the money leaving my account.

Got a random call claiming to be from Natwest. Like I told them before, I ignored it because the caller asked not to respond. Right after that, I got a text, supposedly from Natwest, saying they've "frozen the transaction". Thing is, the account name they mentioned was wrong! Both the call and text showed up nearly at the same time, around 8.30 to 8.32pm on 4 January 2025. Quite suspicious if you ask me.
