Got a call claiming to be from American Express, wanted to talk to the person handling international payments. I told them that person was on leave, and they just said goodbye. They didn’t sound rude or anything.

Received a call from 0345 646 0029, it’s a non geographic number. The person claimed to be from American Express, which I found a bit odd since AmEx usually calls from a landline. Asked them to ring me back, but when they did, there was no message left. Quite fishy if you ask me.

Got a call from American Express about Forex transactions in my company. They were really nice and friendly, and since I already have a card with them, it was a good chat. Switching to their service sounds promising because I’ll earn more reward points than I do now. They said a mate from their team would ring me back to go over the rates, and honestly, the figures they showed me looked way better than what I’m getting at the moment. I’m now definitely a satisfied new customer. Cheers for the call - I didn’t even know Amex did this before they got in touch!

You do realise that pretty much all info about a company is publicly available anyway. If you want to know a company's name, just look it up on Endole, it has loads of details. You can even see their bank balance there.

This is a cold call centre working for the American Express foreign exchange team. They’re paid to arrange phone meetings for businesses thinking about changing their FX providers. They ring up firms whether or not they have Amex cards. It’s totally legit and safe, and they actually helped me sort out my online FX stuff. Next time, try not to be so quick to hang up or be rude - they're just folks doing their job.

My accounts lady phoned me saying some bloke called Stan from Amex was waiting. He asked about my foreign exchange details cos I’ve got a corporate card with them. Seemed legit at first since he knew I had the card, but then I heard a weird fart noise and some giggles behind him. That’s when I realised it was a total scam. Seriously, don’t fall for Stan’s nonsense about your foreign exchange stuff.

Blimey, Poppy really takes the crown for relentless nagging! Calls up all the time trying to get me to let American Express handle all our overseas currency stuff. Seriously, which part of a big fat NO don’t you get? And stop prying with questions like ‘What’s your annual turnover?’ or ‘Which foreign market do you deal with most?’ Listen, Poppy, you’re just a cold caller sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.
