Claimed to be contacting me from the fraud department at Halifax bank. Definitely a scam aiming to nick personal banking info.

Scam call claiming to be from Halifax. They asked for personal info and said I’d know the number was Halifax. When I questioned them, they just hung up.

I nearly got fooled by this call, it sounded so real and really quite worrying. They said the number they were calling from matched the digits on the back of my credit card, but it was a bit off, not an exact match. They gave me loads of personal info too, but some of it was old and that’s what tipped me off that it was a scam.

I kept getting calls one after the other from someone pretending to be from Halifax’s Fraud Department, using a number that looked like it was from them. After a few rings, I picked up. The guy claimed there were some declined card charges and went through some fake transaction details. It sounded pretty legit at first, but when I told him I wouldn’t share any personal info and that I’d ring Halifax directly, he started getting quite aggressive. I just ended the call and then phoned Halifax myself to double-check - turns out it was definitely a scam.
