03456100100 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 03456100100 👆 is reported as the genuine telephone number of First Direct bank, but it has been widely cloned and spoofed by fraudsters. Many callers impersonate First Direct’s fraud department, often knowing personal details like names, addresses, and partial card information to appear credible. These scammers employ sophisticated tactics, such as requesting full online banking passwords, generating security codes, or persuading victims to transfer money to fraudulent accounts. Genuine First Direct representatives do not ask for sensitive information over the phone and typically communicate via official channels. Users are strongly advised not to provide personal details during unsolicited calls, to end suspicious calls immediately, and to independently contact First Direct using numbers found on official documents or their website. Exercising caution and verifying all communications can help prevent falling victim to these scams.

Got a text saying "Ring First Direct on 03456 100 100, there's a voicemail for you. Cheers." I called the number but quickly realised it was a scam. When I got to the security questions, I gave false answers and they still claimed I passed and was using a recognised number - neither of which was true.

I rang the number on the back of my debit card thinking it was the official First Direct line, and at first it seemed legit. But then, whilst they were transferring me, I noticed a keypad noise and suddenly I was speaking to someone who already knew my name. They started asking unusual questions, nothing like the normal stuff, even though I’ve been with them for 8 years. When I challenged him, the guy got annoyed and kept asking for my private details. I got a bad feeling and just hung up. What’s happening with these scams? Hard to know who to trust nowadays. Stay safe everyone!

If you ring the official First Direct Bank number, you’ll actually reach them, but watch out because scammers are faking this number to trick folks. So, if this number pops up on your phone, be careful before you answer!

Just a heads up, scammers have kinda copied this First Direct number. If you get a call from the bank, it wont actually show their number on your phone, and like usual with First Direct, they neva ask for your account info when checking security - they use voice recognition tech instead. If you call that number, you’ll get through to first direct themselves.

Absolutely a dodgy call. The individual claimed he'd spotted a couple of unauthorised transactions on my credit card. He even mentioned the last four digits, saying he was arranging a new card for me. My alarm bells started ringing when he asked for my online username and hinted that if I tried to ring him back, I’d be facing a lengthy wait to reach the fraud team. Just to clarify, First Direct don't operate from this number. Stay vigilant, folks!

Got a scam call from a real First Direct number but it’s been cloned. They always drop the call if you ask questions. They keep calling back so just contact your bank directly. The only place I’ve given my mobile recently was when buying tickets on what was supposed to be a ‘secure’ National Trust website. Might wanna check where you’ve shared your number lately because security there might be rubbish.

Yeah, same here. Proper sneaky scammer. It is legit First Direct number tho. I’d say tell them to send a message through the First Direct app before calling. Don’t share any other details with them. If they really work for First Direct, they can prove it without asking for passwords or codes. Just keep in mind, banks are rubbish like that. They wouldn’t normally ring you about transaction problems. So, treat any call like it’s dodgy. Honestly, don’t even blindly trust your own mum on the phone these days ;-)

This is apparently a First Direct phone number, but if they ring you, make sure you ring them back yourself by typing the number in. I got a call from that very number yesterday and it was a scam, but when I called it again today, I actually reached the bank. So just be super cautious when picking up and always phone back to be safe.

THIS IS NOT FIRST DIRECT! The number pretends to be their fraud team, which makes it even creepier. You can tell it's a fake because they don’t ask the usual security questions properly. They asked me how much money was in my account, my overdraft limit, and then told me to create a new security code and say it aloud to them. NEVER share those security codes with anyone. These scammers almost managed to steal nearly £2k from my bank. They’re proper criminals and somehow knew loads about me, even my mum’s maiden name. STAY ALERT!

This is most certainly not First Direct. I've had a couple of individuals, Paul included, attempting to pull a fast one on me. The language they resorted to when I refused to access my banking app while on the phone with them was utterly appalling. It's alarming how brazen they are!

I got a call showing First Direct. When I rang back on my normal number, it really was them. No problems at all. Some folks mentioned scams - I guess they were dealing with spoofed numbers. So, don’t ring back the number that just called you, use the usual official number you know instead.

First Direct called me, so I rang back the number I normally use and it was definitely First Direct on the line. No issues at all. BE CAREFUL, someone pretending to be from First Direct fraud team called me using what looked like their real number but it’s definitely spoofed. However, I later realised this could very well have been a component of the ruse, as they might have kept my line open, making it seem like I was speaking to the proper bank. Quite alarming, I must say!

It seems the call came from First Direct, a chap named Paul was attempting to get me to go through a security verification. I have a strong suspicion it’s a scam, especially since he got quite confrontational when I pushed back on his request.

0345 610 0100 - I got a call from a bloke claiming to be Paul Maguire from First Direct. He told me someone was on the line pretending to be me, trying to do a big payment but failing voice ID checks. I kept saying 'Aha' to what he was saying and he got really annoyed, saying I wasn’t taking it seriously or paying full attention. He started getting proper angry, accusing me of being sarcastic. I just ended the call. If you end up speaking to this 'Paul', you'll soon realise he wouldn't last long working for First Direct with how he behaves.

Some bloke called pretending to be from Barclay's fraud team, said cos my account’s linked with O2, someone was trynna buy stuff from EE. I knew it was dodgy when he asked me to log in to my online banking. Had the same number ring me the day before but this time they went private and claimed they were from O2 saying someone tried to get a phone in my name in Oxford. They actually knew my name and bank info! Proper creepy.

We've just fallen victim to calls from this number - my husband really thought it was legit since they mentioned actual transactions from our account. They've emptied us out - an overdraft close to £10,000 and a loan of £6,000 taken without our consent. My husband is feeling really low, even suicidal - it’s awful what they’re doing to pensioners with such little means.

This is the legit fraud hotline for First Direct, BUT there’s a scammer out there faking this number when they ring you. If you think something’s dodgy or if they ask for money over the phone, just hang up and call the number yourself. That way you’ll get through to the real fraud team, cos they can only spoof the number when they call you, not when you call them.

Someone was pretending to be from First Direct. I stupidly believed them and ended up losing cash. If anyone says money for DD has tried to get taken, don’t fall for it. Never share your login info. I panicked and got caught out. I contacted First Direct and they are sorting it. Hopefully, I’ll get my money back soon.

I got a call on Monday the 3rd of May, which was a bank holiday. The caller had an Asian accent and claimed to be from M&S Bank, even saying my name and asking me to verify my address. It immediately felt a bit off since the banks were closed for the holiday. Also, I never share personal info on the phone unless I’ve called the bank myself about an issue. When I told him I wouldn’t answer any questions and that I’d call back the next day, he gave me a number to ring: 01244898623. Later, I looked it up online and sure enough, it was a scam like I suspected all along.

Someone pretending to be from First Direct rang up my boyfriend and somehow convinced him to give over a security code from his banking app (they knew loads of info to sound legit). Then they used his app to grab a £6000 loan. After that, they sent the cash through different people listed in his bank history and got those folks to pay the money into a dodgy Monzo account. This is what's called an APP scam. They even copied First Direct’s phone number. Proper nasty stuff.

I got a call from a lady with a proper English accent saying she was from First Direct's fraud department. She said there was suspicious activity on my account and asked me to log into the app, explaining something about raising my security to level 3. It sounded pretty legit at first. After that, I phoned First Direct myself and they confirmed they hadn’t made any calls like that. Definitely a SCAM, but it caught me off guard because it seemed so convincing.

You can mask your IP address, and this caller was doing the same with a First Direct scam number, but it was all a con. I started feeling suspicious when he asked for some personal details, then he tried to prove he was legit by telling me to check if the number on my bank card was the one he was calling from - which it was. That phone number trick totally fooled me and I got ripped off. Honestly, if you’re unsure, just hang up and call the company yourself.
