I’ve never been a customer of HSBC, so it’s quite baffling to receive a call from them regarding some supposed fraudulent transactions on an account that I don’t even have. Sounds like a dodgy scam to me!

I keep getting incessant calls from this number, along with numerous emails urging me to ring them back. When I eventually picked up, I fed them some bogus details, but they claimed it all matched perfectly to bypass their security checks. It’s clearly a scam, no doubt about it.

I reached out to HSBC through their banking app and asked about the number. They said there’s no record on my account of anyone trying to get in touch. When I asked if that number was familiar to them, they didn’t really confirm or deny, just repeated they had no info on it. I wouldn’t bother calling that number back. If you need to contact HSBC, best to use the official number listed on their site.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HSBC. The number they called from sounded legit, and they asked for security info exactly like the real HSBC would. Once I gave the details, the call just dropped on me. After a bit, they rang back again. Definitely a scam, so be careful out there!

Got a call from someone saying it was HSBC, saying they'd been trying to reach me. They asked me to ring them back on 0345 604 7786 and said their hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm. If I've already talked to them, I should just ignore it. But I thought it sounded suspicious so I reported it as a possible scam.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve received around four or five calls from the same individual. Whenever they leave a voicemail, they greet me by my name and assert that I must urgently get in touch with HSBC. While I am indeed a customer, I've indicated in my banking preferences that I should only be contacted via post or email due to my hearing difficulties. Previously, when HSBC has needed to reach me-typically regarding fraud verification-their number has always shown up on my caller ID. Consequently, I have little inclination to answer calls from this number.

I’ve verified that this number belongs to HSBC, as they have stated on their official site. But, just a word of caution-there are some tricksters out there who can fake caller IDs in the UK and use the exact same number to reach you.

Remember, HSBC will never initiate a call to you, so if you find yourself receiving a call from this number, it’s highly probable that it’s a scam. Stay vigilant!
