Sounds like a banking scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HSBC, saying there was some odd activity on my account. I asked for a ref number so I could ring HSBC directly, but they just cut me off. Total scam, no doubt. Oddly, the number showed up as HSBC on my caller ID.

I reckon it's a total con! Oddly enough, the phone picked up the same scam call not once, but twice, and we ended up with some ridiculous service fees totalling more than £6. What a rip-off!

Got a call from someone saying they were from the HSBC fraud team. When I asked loads of questions and got suspicious, they just dropped the call! Watch out and don't give your bank info to just anyone!

i think this might be a legit hsbc number but some bloke with a british accent called from a call centre. I asked for his phone number and he told me 034570007000 but that number doesn’t seem real. he called again saying that two foreigners had got money from my husband’s hsbc account. he gave the hsbc number so i rang them later and they said no such person works in their fraud dept. the amount he mentioned was actually more than what’s even in the account. i told him my husband would be around this morning but he hasn’t called back yet. total scam!

i found this number on the hsbc site for people who arent hsbc customers. if you scroll down to the footer of the hsbc main page and select help & support, then go all the way down on that page and hit contact us, you should see it there.

Huge scam! They took loads of money from my account while pretending to be HSBC. I've told the police about it. Really fortunate I managed to get my cash returned.

i googled this number and gave it a ring but couldn’t find it on the site afterwards so i checked it here instead. i reckon it’s alright since no money was taken and she actually helped me get things sorted, so no stress. no need to panic.

I've no idea who is behind this number, and I certainly didn't place a call that lasted this long.

I received a call at 07:20 on 29th November 2017 from someone with a thick accent, who claimed to be with Windows technical support. Their voice was so unclear that I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times. Since I never share my home number, I promptly instructed them to take my number off their list and ensured they wouldn’t bother me again.

Just a heads up, calls might be recorded or redirected for reference purposes. If you don’t bank with HSBC, you can still reach them at their support line 03456 040 626.
