Somebody rang me pretending to be from HSBC, saying it was urgent and asking for my details. They sounded pretty pushy, even warning they’d keep ringing if I didn’t comply. I told them I was on the road and couldn’t provide anything then, and that I’d ring their official number later. She wasn’t happy and insisted I call back on the number that showed up on my phone. Plus, the call was on my mobile, not my work line, which set off alarm bells straight away!

This number belongs to the HSBC Commercial Financial Support Team. Be careful if you get a call from it, cause scammers might be spoofing their number. However, if you call it back, you’ll reach HSBC for sure. The note saying "The safe comments here are likely from the scammers based on how they're written" is kind of helpful but a bit off. Just be cautious when any number calls you, as they can pretend to be different callers. But when you dial a number yourself, it will definitely connect you to where that number actually belongs.

TOTALLY A SCAM!!!! She claimed to be from HSBC Business and wanted to talk to one of the authorised signatories, but couldn’t give me the business name or the person she was trying to reach. Said her system wasn’t working... I told her it sounded dodgy and she told me to ring HSBC back. I looked it up on HSBC’s actual website and they warn you against calling back because scammers can keep the line open even after you think you’ve hung up, part of their trick.

This number is from an HSBC call centre based in India. If you happen to be behind on payments for your credit or debit card, or owe money on another HSBC service, they’ll ring you from this number. They might ask you to verify info like your card details or date of birth, but they’ll only ever request two digits from your online banking PIN, not the full thing. It’s legit, not a scam. Still, best thing to do is call your local branch or the number on the back of your card to sort out what’s going on.

It's grown so annoying that we've started ignoring our phone whenever this number pops up. This number has called me a couple of times, but I ignored it as I never pick up unknown callers. They said they were from HSBC and straight away asked for my account number, sort code, date of birth and postcode - yeah right! No bank would ask for all that info like that over the phone. I didn’t pick up because I’m always suspicious of unfamiliar 0345 numbers and prefer to let them go to voicemail. Even though they called four times, there wasn’t a single message left. If you get an email from your bank, always call them on the number you trust, not the one in the mail. Or just log into your account direct and see for yourself. Watch out because the HSBC scam calls use the same intro as the real HSBC but its a bit fuzzy. The people who pick up speak really poor English and straight away want your account info.

WATCH OUT - DEFINITELY A SCAM - VERIFIED WITH HSBC. 03456031289 rang me 4 times today, claiming to be from HSBC. I rang HSBC myself and they said they never tried to reach me. Each call they asked for my bank info, and when i refused, they insisted i call back to "confirm". HSBC told me these scammers check Companies House and go after company directors, trying to get payment for fake debts.

The bloke on the phone said he was from HSBC, but his English was really poor which made me suspicious straight away. When I asked him a few questions, he just hung up. Anyone saying this is a genuine number is probably involved in the scam. Don’t be tricked by it. It’s really simple to find personal details through an online business search. They ring you up, mention your company’s name and the directors, and can even provide precise financial data since accounts are filed yearly and available to the public. NEVER SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH THEM.

Don’t trust these fake HSBC accounts, they aint real at all. It’s all a scam and just people trigging you. Stay safe and dont fall for it!

they seemed alright but HSBC still told me straight away that the number isn’t in their phone list, why would they ask otherwise? pointless really.

Received a call purporting to be from HSBC, asking for my mum's bank details. I ended the call and did a quick online search for the number. Turns out, it appears to be a dodgy operation.

this number sent me a text so i just ignored it and then phoned the hsbc support line i found on the internet, and they told me it’s definitely a scam.
