Spent almost an hour on the blower with Halifax Bank, going back and forth between about 8 different advisors about my rewards. I got so fed up with being passed around like a hot potato, I just hung up. Barely had time to calm down when this number texted me. Without a doubt a scam! Got a message saying something like ATTENTION: Your phone number got switched on 12/08 at 5:08 pm. It said "Keep in mind, your number’s linked to payment verifications. If you get a surprise call saying they're from your bank, always ring your bank back using the number on the back of your card. Make sure your phone line is free first. This number might be one of the many Lloyds/BoS/Halifax use. But you can't really trust if the caller is legit since scammers can fake any bank number these days. Never reply straight away to an unexpected bank call. Also, scammers sometimes put out fake scam alerts about real bank numbers, just to make folks ignore or block them.

They asked when I last used my debit card. I hung up straight away. Then, a few seconds later, a lady rang saying she was from my bank - I cut the call right off. I called my bank right after and they said they had no idea about any fraud.

Got four texts from what looked like a legit Halifax number (I've had messages from them before). First three gave a code for some Tesco Travel Money purchase, but it wasn’t my card. Then the fourth said my phone number was changed and if it wasn’t me to call 03456020000. The giveaway was the bit in the first three messages that said “Only scammers would ask you to share this code”. Sounded real dodgy, glad I looked it up here first.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Halifax bank telling me I had a payment waiting for a loan I supposedly applied for with Fresh Loans. It’s obviously a scam, they want money upfront for the loan and will probably keep asking for more before actually giving anything.

Between 1st and 6th November 2021, I got about 8 dodgy texts all within a short time like 16:51, 16:53 and so on. On the 1st Nov around 12:06, I got a call from 03456020000 or maybe 441132798302, they wanted me to set up a payment and somehow knew the last 4 digits of my bank card. Then on the 6th, got a text saying Halifax would send me a message about recent activity on my Visa card, showing last 4 digits. Later the same day another message had a password code 509353 about a £236.95 purchase, again with the card digits. Loads more similar texts from different numbers popped up. Ringed my bank quick and they sorted everything out.

I didn’t respond. The bank info didn’t seem right, so I just ignored it and then checked and reported it on this site.

I got a text on my phone saying it was from Halifax Bank, telling me my phone number had been updated. They wanted me to ring this number 03456020000. Instead, I dialled the number on the back of my Halifax card and they said everything was fine, no changes or anything funny going on. Definitely a scam.

Got a text claiming to be from Halifax saying: 'Confirmation: You added a new payee on 29/10 at 12:51:26 from an account ending in 1768. If this wasn't you please ring 03456020000 or +441132798302 if overseas.' That’s not my account number, so I'm pretty sure it's a scam.

Got a dodgy call, prob from China or somewhere like that, saying they're from my bank, Halifax. They claimed they'd spotted weird stuff on my account and wanted me to read out a code they supposedly sent me, saying I could lose a load of money if I didn't act quick instead of just going to the branch like I suggested. I hung up and rang the number on the back of my Halifax card, and they told me nothing suspicious had happened. The scam call was weird cos they started with 'Hello madam, how are you today?', which didn’t sound like the way a real fraud team would start a serious chat.
