I double-checked with Lloyds and MBNA, and this number is legit, so it's fine to give them a ring.

I got a number off Lloyds Bank and was told to ring this new one '08005003920'. When I looked up that number it came back as 'Negative', so I'm a bit unsure. Just a heads up to be careful!

Yep, this number is legit and belongs to Lloyds Banking Group, including their fraud team who cover Halifax, MBNA and others. I’ve had calls from them myself and can vouch it’s genuine.

This person claimed that my bank account showed 15 outgoing payments to the same company, each one supposedly withdrawn from my account. I looked into it - not through my phone where I got the call - using my Nationwide card reader and everything was fine, no money had left. Just to be safe I moved most of my cash into a savings account with a different bank. I also blocked the caller on my phone. If you think there’s an issue, banks advise you to ring 159 so you can verify things with them straight away.

Got loads of scam calls from this number. Ended up changing my card because of it. Wouldn’t recommend using this at all.

Honestly, this is legit people - it really is the Lloyds Bank Fraud Dept. I rang them myself because they’d frozen my account after I’d made loads of transactions in a short space of time. They don’t ask for anything dodgy. They’ll just go through a couple of password questions like “what’s the 3rd and 6th letter or number,” but they won’t ask for stuff like the three digits on the back of your card. After the chat, my account was unlocked and working again. So yeah, it’s for real.

Pretty sneaky trick using a real Lloyds phone number. I got a voicemail saying I needed to ring them to confirm some account activity. Instead, I called Lloyds directly through their app and they told me no department would have contacted me like that.

Just to clear things up, I really don’t think this is a scam! I got scammed before and some dodgy person was stealing money from my Lloyds Bank account. When I called to report what happened, they gave me this exact number to report fraud and scams. So yeah, this is definitely the UK fraud department’s number!

When I got this number during an online purchase, I freaked out cause a quick google tagged it as a scam. I called anyway, feeling pretty nervous. Then I rang Lloyds who said it wasn’t theirs, which made me more worried. But after they checked the call records, they said it IS their fraud department number, just not listed properly yet. So yeah, it’s legit Lloyds fraud line - no need to stress!

I got this number while trying to sort out something online and freaked out cuz when I looked it up it showed up as a scam. I’d already rung it by then which made me more worried. I even called Lloyds bank and they said the number wasn’t theirs. But after they checked properly, they told me it was actually their fraud department’s line, just not updated in their system yet. So yeah, it’s legit - it really is a Lloyds fraud helpline, so no need to freak out anymore!

This number is a scam, please dont ring it. I checked with Lloyds and they told me always to use the phone number listed on their official site or the one on the back of your card. It was confusing because I got a text about "setting up new payments" from Lloyds but the 0345 number they sent was different and seemed dodgy. Be careful out there!

03456004862 is actually Lloyds' fraud team. The number popped up on the Lloyds app message when my card got blocked because they saw something dodgy. I had to do some security questions with them, they read out the transactions I made to double check, and now my card’s been unblocked.

Got a text asking me to confirm a payment I supposedly made, but I don’t even have a Lloyds bank card, so it’s gotta be a scam. Then another message came through saying they’ll send a security code soon and gave me the number 03453000000 to call when I get it, which I’ve heard is linked to fraud! I’m going to ring Lloyds back on a different number to find out what’s really happening.

Got an answerphone message that said it was a personal call and used my name, claiming to be from Lloyds fraud team. They wanted me to ring them back. Without a doubt, this is a dodgy number. I got a call from 0800 169 7762 on my phone but didn’t pick up, instead I listened to the voicemail. An automated woman said she was from Lloyds Bank warning about some suspicious activity on my account and advised me to call 0345 600 4862, saying their advisors were available round the clock. Feeling a bit iffy about the whole thing, I searched the number online and found this site, but honestly, the details were a bit all over the place. So I rang the number on the back of my bank card instead and actually spoke to someone at Lloyds. After verifying my details, they connected me to their Fraud Team. Luckily, nothing fraudulent showed on my account, but they still cancelled my card and sent a new one out. Usually, i never bother leaving feedback on sites like this, but after hearing about how Helen Skelton got scammed for £70k, I thought it was worth sharing my experience.

Sorry for my comment on 21/08/19, especially to those who said the number was legit. I spoke to Lloyds fraud team today and they confirmed it's actually a genuine Lloyds bank number used by their fraud department. Seems like different parts of Lloyds might not be aware of the phone numbers others use - I was first told by Lloyds bank this was a 'scam' number, but today they said it’s real. Still, if you get a text from 'Lloyds bank' from a number you don’t know, I'd advise calling a Lloyds number you trust first.

Today I got a message from this number warning about some 'unusual activity on your card, contact us'. Definitely a scam - so looks like the comments saying it’s a legit Lloyds number are actually from the scammers themselves :-( I checked directly with Lloyds using their official helpline (0345 300 0000) and they confirmed it’s #not# a Lloyds number but a fraud attempt. If you get a call or text from 03456004862, just ignore it or ring Lloyds on a safe number you trust instead.

the 0345 number really is from lloyds bank. i got a text from them that actually had my name on it (not just some generic "dear customer") asking me to call about a fraud case and gave a reference number. soon after that my card stopped working. they noticed a dodgy purchase on my debit card. i logged into my account online and saw the weird payment they mentioned. i told them it wasn’t me who did that payment, so they cancelled my card to stop more fraud and sent me a new one.

If you get a call or see 0345 600 4862 pop up, it’s actually Lloyds’ fraud prevention line for online card payments. I had this happen when I was about to pay for something online with my Lloyds card. Before ringing the number, I contacted Lloyds directly to make sure it was genuine. They asked me some security questions to verify I was the real cardholder and that I was authorising the transaction, which they sometimes do especially for bigger purchases. After that, the payment was accepted without any issues. Just a heads up, some folks mention an 0845... number on here, but that one looks like a scam.

Today I got a text from 0845 600 4862 with a reference number, telling me to ring about some fraud enquiry. It sounded a bit dodgy but I phoned anyway. A man with an Irish accent answered, only told me his name was 'Tom' and asked for my bank details. I've never heard of any investigation like this so I'm certain it was a con. I've reported it to Action Fraud. I'd say if you get something similar, double check with your bank directly before saying anything.

Legit - Lloyds Bank fraud team. I got a text from this number telling me to get in touch about some suspicious charges on my credit card. I was a bit wary, so I messaged Lloyds on Twitter via @AskLloydsBank to check if this was a genuine fraud dept number. They said yes, it was. Still feeling a bit dodgy, I rang the number on the back of my debit card instead of calling the provided one. Lloyds confirmed it was indeed their fraud team trying to reach me, that my card had been blocked, and told me to ring back on that number. When I phoned, I spoke with a Scottish lady who could access my bank info just from the code in the original text. She was worried about a payment to a firm in China. After I confirmed I’d made the payment and it wasn’t fraudulent, she cleared it and unblocked my card.

I got three calls from the number 0800 032 7329, with the caller telling me to ring Lloyds business banking on 0345 600 4862 and give them a certain reference number. On one of the calls, I spoke to someone claiming to be from the Lloyds fraud team - sounded very convincing, had a Scottish accent, and asked for my bank details like account number and sort code. I didn’t share any info though. He then said I should call the fraud department using the number on the back of my card. When I used a different phone to ring Lloyds myself, they told me they never made those calls. Obviously, it was a scam.

Got a call claiming to be from Halifax Bank, saying there was suspicious activity on my card, from the number 08453560024. Didn’t answer but instead called the number on the back of my card. Halifax confirmed it’s a scam and advised me not to engage. Then the landline rang again this morning for the third time, showing that same 0845 number. Ended up talking to a bloke called "Brian". Told him straight it was a scam and I wasn’t giving out anything. Seemed pretty convincing, then he gave me another number starting 0345 to ring, but when I called, there was no signal. Waited a bit hoping it might clear up. Seriously, don’t call these numbers - they’re trying to scam you.
