The landline rang and when I answered, I heard another phone ringing before an Asian woman came on asking for my mum’s husband. She said he had a private bank account and that she couldn’t talk to me about it just then. She gave a phone number to call back later, which is how I ended up on this site. Got a call from some dodgy lot pretending they were Argos, trying to get me to pay up. Proper scammy behaviour, total muppets.

My home phone keeps ringing, but I never pick up since my answer machine picks up straight away. They call like five times every day, it's so annoying.

I thought it could be Argos like some folks mentioned since I reckon I missed a payment. But then, they just cut off as soon as I picked up, and there was no voicemail either? If it’s a proper call, why wouldn’t they leave a message or talk to me when I actually answer? Seems a bit odd to me.

I'm rather perplexed by this situation. I've received a message claiming to be from Argos, yet when I looked into the phone number, it turns out to be flagged as a scam. How on earth are we meant to navigate this? It’s quite baffling, really. Any advice on how to determine the legitimacy of these calls and messages would be greatly appreciated!

I keep getting calls from Argos Card Services using an auto dialler about payments I supposedly owe. I rang their main line on 03456 400 700 to clear things up, and the person I spoke to confirmed it was them calling. It’s really frustrating to receive these calls every day when I’ve already settled my bill...

I got loads of calls from these scammers and they wouldn’t say much, like they kinda knew stuff but it wasn’t them really. They kept asking me for my full card number, and I know you should never give that to anyone. They were really pushy about it. I had to make a payment today and ever since, they keep ringing me nonstop. They even tried asking me some security questions, like when my birthday is, that was the only one they asked. Seriously, be careful and don’t get tricked by them! x

When it comes to reaching out regarding significant matters, you can always count on a utility provider, financial institution, or telecom service to drop you a written note. Those incessant phone calls during the day and night? Honestly, they're mostly trivial - just give them a miss.

They called me a couple of times in one day but I didn’t pick up. Later, I found out from others on this site that it might be Argos. Had a look at my Argos account and saw there was an unpaid bill I hadn’t noticed. Figured that was the reason for the calls! Sorted it out straight away through the Argos app so I didn’t need to ring them back.

I just received a call from this number, claiming to be Argos. However, I'm certain that Argos don't even make calls like that. Sounds a bit dodgy to me - could be a scam, so best to steer clear!
