Every time my phone rings and I hear an Asian accent on the other end, a wave of unease washes over me. The other day, a woman with a distinct Asian lilt was on the line, insisting she was calling from my energy provider, EON. Little did she know, I’m actually signed up with EDF Energy, not EON. She hung up abruptly after I clarified that little detail, leaving me quite bemused.

Some bloke said he was calling from British Gas to update my contract. Since I’m locked in for three years, I didn’t buy it and asked if he could send me an email. After that, he turned all nasty and started ringing me like mad - probably 15 to 20 calls every single day now.

Got a call from someone saying they were from EON, the energy company. I said we don’t use EON at all, and he kept asking if I was sure. I told him again we never had EON and told him to stop calling, then ended the call.

Had a call from someone selling electricity deals. At first, he said we were with EON, but when I asked more, he said his name was actually ‘Eon’. Then he changed his story and said he was Osman Khan working for Kishmish Ltd - which turns out to be a restaurant, not an energy firm. Total SCAM. I’ve reported them to the TPS.

Got a call at work from 03454555441, and they wanted to talk to the manager. I answered and said that was me. They claimed to be from EON and insisted our contract was ending soon. I told them we don’t have any contract with them. They kept saying we did and it was about to expire. I firmly said no we don’t, then told them goodbye. They just hung up after that. Pretty sure it was one of those scam calls trying to fish info.

Got a call from one of those Indian call centres claiming to be from Eon. They always start with the exact same intro. I just told them straight away, "not interested." If this number pops up on your phone, best to just hang up and not bother.

They’ve already rang me about ten times today saying they’re Eon, which we ain’t with. Even after we told them that, they kept insisting we were customers and just kept phoning. It’s a work number too, so it’s stopping proper callers from getting through!

Beware, this is a total scam - never share your info with them. They rang me first, claiming to be from Eon, but I’m actually with Scottish Power. A few days later, the same number called again, this time saying they were from Scottish Power. I asked for their name and company address, but they refused to give either. When I told them I wanted those details to report them to the police, they just ended the call. Very dodgy behaviour!

Some bloke called me claiming he was from Opus about renewing my gas deal. I was suspicious straight away since I had only signed a new contract like a month earlier. I asked him to verify my info and he ended up giving me a different company name, wrong address and account number. When I told him he had the wrong info, he kept arguing with me. I said I’d report the number since it sounded dodgy, and then he got proper annoyed and just hung up on me.

I said no way, it sounded fishy, and the person on the line got pretty annoyed, even trying to scare me by saying they’d take £3000 out of my bank.
