Regrettably, this is not a fraudulent scheme. I brushed aside the untidy correspondence, and as a result, Natwest terminated my account. My advice would be, if you're unsure, best to pop into your local branch for clarity.

Just received what appeared to be a correspondence from the Royal Bank of Scotland, and it had the last three digits of our bank account along with our complete address, which was rather alarming. They asserted that they needed to perform an identity verification for my wife regarding our joint account, citing reasons related to money laundering, warning that failure to comply would result in the account being frozen and subsequently terminated. Strangely enough, my wife hasn't been contacted for any such information prior to this. The letter was rather bland, printed in black and white. The number provided for further queries was also listed on the document.

Today, I got a rather dubious letter dated 4th November 2022 from NatWest bank. Upon taking a closer look, I realised that the bank's logo didn't quite match the genuine one I’m familiar with. The correspondence was requesting confirmation of bank account details and certain personal identification queries. The phone number listed for contact was the one that raised my suspicions. I'd advise everyone to stay vigilant; this definitely has the hallmarks of a scam, in my view!
