It was a legit market research call, no personal questions asked. The lady who spoke to me was really friendly. I’m quite lonely so it’s actually nice to have someone to chat with, I’m grateful when someone calls just to hear my opinion. It makes me feel like I’m doing something useful. My spouse was eagerly anticipating a call from the doctor and, in her hurry to pick up the phone, she tragically slipped and collided with the wall and floor, injuring her head and shoulder. To our surprise, we noticed this number registered on our phone. If anyone is inclined to participate in those ridiculous surveys, they ought to enable a means for us to reach them instead. We’re also registered with the Telephone Preference Service, yet it seems to be utterly ineffective. Had my wife spotted this number ahead of time, she wouldn't have been so frantic in her attempt to answer. I genuinely wish these telemarketers would leave us be. If I haven’t voluntarily shared my number, I certainly don’t wish to receive calls from you. There should absolutely be legislation in place to penalise these companies heavily if they choose to ignore people's preferences-perhaps the fines could be redirected to the individuals inconvenienced by their intrusiveness. PLEASE, NO MORE CALLS!

Check out this info from the TPS site. The last bit is important. These scammers pretending to be market researchers aren’t legit and are breaking the rules by calling you. The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is free and lets you put your number on a list to avoid unwanted sales or marketing calls. Legally, every organisation, even charities and political groups, must not ring numbers on the TPS list unless you’ve given them permission.

Picking up from my previous comment, you can actually register your mobile number with the TPS, but just a heads up - this only blocks marketing calls, it won’t stop any marketing texts. If you want to get rid of those annoying SMS adverts, you’d have to contact the company directly and ask to opt out. Also, keep in mind that being on the TPS doesn’t stop firms from ringing you for legitimate market research purposes.

Got a call from a bloke on Friday night, 9th Feb around 8:37pm, claiming he’s from Populus Data Solutions. He asked to chat with the youngest person at home, which he thought was me! Then he said it was a survey... I just blocked the number straight away with my call blocker. They’re based in Newcastle, phone number 0191 265 0525, postcode NE6 1SE. Had a look them up on Google and the reviews about their staff are absolutely shocking!

Got a call from this number on my phone at 18:36 on 8th Feb 2018. Didn’t know who it was so I let it go to voicemail. Looked up the number here and saw the reviews. Decided to block it now. I checked my voicemail and it showed a different number than the one that appeared on my screen, but the call time was exactly the same. The voicemail number was 01912760399. When I searched that one too, it turns out to be a spam number as well.

To get through, unknown callers gotta say who they are first - then I decide whether to chat, hang up, or block them. This time, the call actually came through ‘cos it showed my daughter-in-law’s name on the screen, so I answered. But it wasn’t Lynne on the line, it was this firm instead. Not sure how they managed to pull that off, so I’ve asked BT to look into it.

Earlier today, I received a call from this number while I was out and about. Honestly, the best approach I've found to tackle these persistent nuisance callers is to be unabashedly rude. Trust me, it puts them off reaching out again. If you challenge them with some truly outrageous comment, they seem to vanish into thin air. Ever since I took this route, the frequency of these unwelcome calls has significantly dwindled. So, take my advice: don't waste your time being civil with them!
