Just a heads up, this is totally a scam. Banks don’t email you about overpayments; they usually either ring you up or send a proper letter in the post. Stay sharp!

Just received a message claiming I paid too much into a Lloyds bank account that’s actually shut and isn’t even mine. I copied the number and looked it up, turned out to be a total scam. I’ve reported it and blocked the number straight away.

I recently received a letter from Lloyd's Bank that mentioned they owed me some funds, but here's the kicker-I’ve never even had an account with them! So, out of curiosity, I decided to search for the phone number printed on the correspondence. It all seemed rather fishy to me, and I suspect it’s a scam. Be warned, folks!

I decided to pop into my nearest branch for clarification, and they assured me the letter was indeed legitimate. They advised me to give a call to the number listed on the letter, which is 03453073812. From what I've gathered, that number seems to be authentic.
