Got a call from an Asian guy saying he was ringing from EON about my renewal confirmation (my provider is EON and my contract ends soon). I told him it’s already sorted and he started listing the amount we pay, which was spot on. Then he kept going on, asking for email addresses so I wouldn’t say anything, but he gave up pretty quickly.

4/6/18 Had a similar experience like others. A pushy Asian guy called saying he was from British Gas. He knew my name and said I was the business owner. He kept asking me to confirm some details. I told him I don’t handle that and hung up. He rang straight back again. Kept insisting I confirm stuff for some company policy so I’d get a letter. I said if it’s legit, I’ll call back cause I didn’t get it. Then he just cut the call. Best to just ignore him really.

Been getting calls from this number for like a week now, reported it already. The person on the other end is really rude and pushy. Doesn’t seem to get the hint when you say no and just hangs up then rings straight back again. Sometimes they’ll call up to 4 times in one day.

Spoke to an Asian gentleman who was really persistent. He asked for a contact name, then wanted to know my job title, and after that said, "I can deal with you too, Sir." Definitely felt like a scam, so I just hung up.

They called me twice!!! The first time it was an Asian bloke claiming he was from the energy renewal team!!! I asked if he was from nPower?? He said yes he was!!! I told him if he really was my supplier, he’d know it wasn’t nPower!!! Then I hung up!!! About five mins later, he phoned again, this time saying he was someone else from my actual provider, asking for details. I told him if he was for real, I’d call my supplier straight back!!! Then he just ended the call!!!

A man with a Chinese accent rang me, saying he was with EDF Energy and asked to speak to the former owner of my house. Then he said we’d already agreed a contract with EDF and he was going to send some paperwork through. You can easily check this on a national register. The moment he couldn’t tell me my name, I got suspicious. I told him he wasn’t from EDF, but he kept insisting he was. I rang EDF myself and they said they hadn’t contacted me at all - pretty clear it was a scam.

Someone claimed to be from British Gas and wanted to review my contract before sending it by post. Ive got a three year contract with them, so I don’t see why I’d need a new one. He even called me Mr Paul, so I just told him I’d wait for it in the post and then ended the call. And all this happened on a Bank Holiday Monday!

Someone called saying they were George from British Gas. Right at the start, he goes, "Good afternoon sir, how are you my dear? I’m calling to renew your British Gas contract my dear." When I asked whether it’s for gas or electricity, he said both. I said that’s odd as I’ve never had a British Gas contract and there’s never been gas supplied here. Then he said I misunderstood and that he wanted to know if I’m with British Gas, and asked who my current supplier was. I told him that was none of his business and asked for the contact details of his company, and then he just hung up.
