I got a call just after 10pm from someone saying they were with my bank and wanted to talk about a dodgy transaction on my account. It felt fishy straight away, who calls about bank stuff so late?! Pretty sure it was a total scam.

Total scam! Got a call from a bloke claiming my account had fraudulent activity and someone was attempting to borrow £5,000 in my name. He called himself AlexSmith from Santander’s Fraud Department. Then he said he’d transfer me to his manager, some Simon Anderson. They wanted me to use some automated system. I ended the call, then phoned the number on the back of my debit card. Spoke to a proper fraud officer who confirmed it was a con.
