I got a call from 0345 301 5315, a woman claiming to be with EON. When I asked her to verify she actually worked for EON, she replied it goes both ways and questioned how she could be sure I was who I said I was. She told me to ring back on 0345 300 8143, but that number doesn’t show up on EON’s official site. Feels dodgy to me, so don’t hand over any personal details.

Got a weird voicemail and when I rang back, it definitely seemed like one of those phishing scam calls.

Someone rang me claiming to be from EON and even had my right account number, which was a bit unnerving. I asked for a contact number to verify, and they provided 0345 3008143.

I received an email from EON earlier today that certainly raised my eyebrows. It bore what seemed to be their official number but began with 0345 instead of the more familiar 0845 - a detail that several folks have flagged on this platform, as it turns out 0345 corresponds to a premium rate line. The content of the email claimed they required my meter reading because they believed I might be paying far too little, with mention of a potential direct debit increase of over £100 a month. It’s baffling how they can throw a figure at me without having a proper reading! To add to the absurdity, it stated that if I didn’t respond, my payments would automatically hike up in ten days. If it were truly EON reaching out, I'd expect a proper letter, not an email. It’s quite disheartening, really, as some vulnerable individuals might end up ringing them and unwittingly sharing sensitive account or card information over the phone.

Today, I received an email claiming to be from EON. Instead of dialing the number they provided, I opted to use the one I already had for EON. Oddly enough, the call connected me to someone overseas, which is rather out of the ordinary. The conversation was quite peculiar; they mentioned refunding my credit whilst simultaneously stating they'd be increasing my monthly direct debit payment. It raised my eyebrows, as I should be sitting on about £150 in credit. My attempts to clarify things with the regular number weren’t fruitful either, leading me to suspect that this could very well be a SCAM. To top it off, they inquired whether I was receiving a pension-what on earth would that have to do with my gas and electricity bills?

This number has rung me a few times, but they never leave a voicemail. Honestly, I haven't got the faintest clue who it could be!

I recently received an email that appeared to be from Eon, urging me to call a specific number to adjust my direct debit payments. Given that I had just altered these details the day prior while switching tariffs, I felt a wave of suspicion wash over me. The email failed to mention my account number and did not match the contact number listed on my bill, which only deepened my doubts. I attempted to reach out to Eon using the phone number found on my bill, but unfortunately, the advisor didn't seem to grasp my worries about the legitimacy of the email. Consequently, I've decided against responding to the email altogether. Could it possibly be a scam?

Got an email on the 27th of March where someone said they were from Eon Energy. They asked me to put in my meter readings to make sure my direct debit was right. The number they gave was 0345 3008 143. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

My elderly mother, who is 89 and lives in Scotland, just received a phone call from this number. They claimed to be from E.ON and were asking for her bank information to supposedly adjust her direct debit. Fortunately, she had the sense to inform them that they'd need to discuss this with either me or the bank directly.

I've just noticed that I've been billed for a call from this number, which is absolutely absurd! Apparently, it lasted for over an hour - how is that even possible? I’m on a basic business plan that gives me 100 complimentary minutes, and now I find that this number has consumed two of my allowed calls, leaving me to foot the bill for all my other legitimate calls. This doesn't make any sense at all! I'm baffled as to how this could have occurred.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with these individuals, but every time I ring them, I get nothing but radio silence. It’s quite vexing, to say the least!
