I got a call from 0345 301 5315, a woman claiming to be with EON. When I asked her to verify she actually worked for EON, she replied it goes both ways and questioned how she could be sure I was who I said I was. She told me to ring back on 0345 300 8143, but that number doesn’t show up on EON’s official site. Feels dodgy to me, so don’t hand over any personal details.

Got a weird voicemail and when I rang back, it definitely seemed like one of those phishing scam calls.

Someone rang me claiming to be from EON and even had my right account number, which was a bit unnerving. I asked for a contact number to verify, and they provided 0345 3008143.

Today I got an email claiming to be from EON which seemed pretty legit at first glance, using a number starting with 0345. But I’ve seen others mention on here that 0345 numbers can be pricey, not like the usual 0845 ones EON uses. They wanted my meter reading because apparently I’m underpaying somehow, and they said my direct debit might jump by more than £100 a month. That made no sense to me - how can they quote new charges without even a proper meter reading? The message also warned that if I didn’t reply in ten days, the increase would happen automatically. If this was truly from EON, I’m sure they would’ve sent a letter, not just an email. Feels like this could trick vulnerable folks into handing over their details by phone, which is really worrying.

Today I got an email claiming to be from EON, but I didn’t ring the number in the message. Instead, I called a number I already had for them and ended up speaking to someone overseas, which seemed really odd. They mentioned they were refunding me some credit but also said they’d be doubling my monthly direct debit, even though I supposedly have about £150 in credit. That didn’t make any sense to me at all. I tried contacting the usual EON customer service, but got no clear answers, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. To make it weirder, they asked if I receive a pension - what’s that got to do with my gas or electricity bills?

This number has rung me a few times, but they never leave a voicemail. Honestly, I haven't got the faintest clue who it could be!

Got an email claiming to be from Eon telling me to call a number to update my direct debit details. But I had just sorted this the day before when switching my tariff, so it felt fishy. The email didn’t mention my account number and the phone number wasn’t the one on my actual bill either. I tried calling Eon using the number on my bill but the person I spoke to didn’t really get why I was worried it might be a con. So yeah, I’ve ignored the email for now - seems like a scam to me?

Got an email on the 27th of March where someone said they were from Eon Energy. They asked me to put in my meter readings to make sure my direct debit was right. The number they gave was 0345 3008 143. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Calling a 0345 number costs the same as ringing a landline with BT, so you won’t be surprised by extra charges.

My mum in Scotland got a call from this number, and she’s 89, so all this stuff confused her a lot. They said they were calling from e’on and asked for her bank info to change her direct debit payments. Thankfully, she was smart enough to say they’d need to talk to me or the bank instead.

Today, I noticed a missed call from 03453008143 inquiring about my direct debit. I’m not planning to ring them back since 0345 numbers usually come with expensive charges.

They've called me a few times now, always from an unknown number, so I just avoid answering.

I just noticed that I've been billed for a call from this number that supposedly went on for more than an hour - no way! I’m on a pretty simple business plan that offers 100 free minutes, and it looks like two calls from this number ate up all my free minutes. Because of that, all my actual calls ended up being charged. I’m confused about how this even happened.

I keep trying to return their call but they never pick up, it's so frustrating! Who even are they?
