Got a call from someone saying they were from John Lewis, warning me about a dodgy payment. I rang John Lewis myself and they said it wasn’t them, just a scam. The guy called himself James Foster - but I reckon that name was made up. He knew my phone number and where I live, so I think they must have gotten hold of an old purchase from a data breach, maybe JD Sports? Best advice: don’t share any details, end the call, and ring the number on your bank card to check.

I got a call from someone saying they were with the John Lewis Partnership card, but it turned out to be a scam. I rang up John Lewis myself to check, and no one there had called me. The bloke on the phone sounded quite convincing and said his name was James Foster, spoke with an English accent.
