03452669337 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 03452669337 👆 is reported as a genuine HSBC and First Direct fraud alert number used to verify suspicious transactions, particularly large or unusual payments. Callers are often polite but may have strong accents and ask security questions carefully without requesting passwords or sensitive details. However, this number has been frequently spoofed by scammers, making it vital to remain cautious. Users strongly recommend that recipients do not answer unexpected calls or provide information without first verifying by calling the official number on the back of their bank card. HSBC itself advises ending such calls and redialling using trusted contact details. Despite some unprofessional conduct reported by call handlers, the number is legitimate but should always be verified independently to avoid falling victim to scams.

Got a call that I picked up, but they hung up right away. I rang back and they claimed to be HSBC. Since I’m not a customer there, I just let it go.

This number really is from HSBC's fraud department - I found it through the HSBC mobile app when I needed to confirm a big transaction that got flagged. They only asked for my full name and ran a few checks to make sure I wasn’t being scammed before approving the payment. The folks on the line were really polite and helpful. But honestly, I’d advise not answering if this number calls you out of the blue, because scammers can easily fake their caller ID to look like the bank. If you’re unsure, better to ring the phone number on your card yourself!

I was a bit wary when I dialled the number since I wanted to check on a payment to a new vendor that got flagged as suspicious. I’m pretty sure I didn’t hand over any details that could put me at risk. The person on the other end seemed legit, sounded like HSBC, and they ended up clearing the payment. If it turns out I was mistaken, I’ll come back and let everyone know tomorrow.

I got a call from what looked like HSBC fraud dept, so I tried ringing back using the number they gave me from my online banking alerts after they blocked a payment to a new beneficiary. My mobile carrier showed a warning for ‘possible scam’, which made me a bit wary. To be safe, I rang the usual HSBC customer service line and they confirmed this was definitely the fraud team’s contact. Not sure why some folks are saying it's rubbish info or a scam itself. If you’re unsure, best thing is to phone the classic HSBC number to confirm before doing anything.

I tried looking up this number on HSBC's official site but couldn’t find it anywhere. So, I called HSBC using a different contact to see if the number was legit. Turns out, it’s a real HSBC number used for fraud investigations. Honestly, it’s baffling that a huge bank like HSBC uses such secretive and unlisted numbers for fraud cases. You’d think they’d offer clear, verifiable ones instead. Makes no sense!

Got a message from what said it was the HSBC Fraud Alert Team after doing an overseas transfer at my local branch. The bank worker warned me I’d get a call or text to confirm it was me. When I rang the number from the message, they just asked a few simple questions to confirm the payment was legit. They didn’t ask for any info that could be risky or used by scammers. Honestly felt safe and legit, so no worries there.

Got a message saying "HSBC Payment Fraud Alert" about an unauthorised payment of £5000 to The Big Give on 03/12/2024. It gave me a number to ring their Fraud team on 03452669337 (or +441470697107 from abroad) and said I needed to reply by 8pm or the payment wouldn't go through. It also warned not to reply by text. I tried calling HSBC but they wouldn’t help without my account info, and since I bank with First Direct, I rang them instead. Turned out to be a scam - the next day another message popped up but with a different amount.

Honestly, this scam is pretty clever. They claim they're from HSBC’s fraud department, but it’s just a trick. They said there was some dodgy activity on my account and even set me up with a fake branch appointment. Don’t fall for it - always ring the number on your bank card or check the official website if you’re unsure. What’s scary is they already had loads of my details, and I’m still clueless how they got them!

I’m pretty sure that phone number is really from HSBC. Earlier today I sent some money to one of my clients and didn’t answer the usual security questions cause I know her well. That seems to have set off a security alert. The woman who called had an accent that was a bit tricky to follow, but she was courteous and didn’t ask anything that seemed fishy or like a scam.

Got a call from someone with a foreign accent saying they were from M&S Bank. They wanted me to answer security questions, which made me pretty uneasy. They told me to hang up and ring the number on the back of my card to check, but honestly, even if you do that, your phone might still be connected to them! Definitely a scam, just trying to get hold of your private info.

This number rang me saying they were from my credit card provider. I was a bit suspicious and hung up straight away. Then I rang the official number on the back of my card just to check, and the real company confirmed that call was legit. So, I’d say this number can be trusted.

I’ve seen this number pop up quite a bit but it seems like it’s been used in spoofing scams. It does link to an actual HSBC line, but scammers have used it to get you to call back, then they intercept the call. They’ll often tell you there’s been a dodgy transaction on your bank account and ask you to move your money to a different account. Just be really careful and if you’re unsure, it’s best to visit your local branch rather than deal with anything over the phone. Sadly, these fraudsters are getting more clever all the time.

It looks real enough, but instead of ringing that number, try calling the one on the back of your card linked to your account. That way you can be certain you’re not getting redirected to a scam operation.

Even though it was really HSBC, I just can't make out what the Fraud Team people are saying with their accents. Because of that, both my payments (to one of the biggest banks here) got blocked even tho I gave the go ahead. Proper fed up with this!

Got a message asking me to call this number just after I'd done a transaction. It said it was from HSBC. I called, and they already had details about the transaction but didn’t ask for any personal info. Checked by ringing HSBC's official number later, and they told me their fraud team had indeed sent that text. So yeah, this is a legit HSBC fraud alert line.

I got a call from someone with a really thick accent saying they were from HSBC's fraud team. I told them straight up I thought they were scammers and ended the call. I actually use First Direct (which is connected to HSBC) and rang them on the number shown on my card to check. Turns out the call was legit! They were just checking a real purchase I’d made online. I don’t mind them trying to protect me from fraud but honestly their approach was awful. I told First Direct they seriously need to sort this out better. The person I spoke to agreed it’s an issue.

Like a few folks have pointed out, this call was from HSBC's Fraud Team. My only worry (like some others mentioned) is that I actually use FirstDirect, so it wasn’t instantly clear. That said, I’m totally fine with them just asking me to ring the number on my card to check a transaction, which I kinda expected given all the scams happening lately. Gotta hand it to HSBC - better to be cautious than regret it later!

I got a call from someone saying they were from HSBC Payments Fraud Team. The person who spoke was hard to catch and sounded like they were calling from abroad. Soon after, I received a text asking me to ring First Direct about a payment I supposedly made. When I called First Direct, they told me they needed to confirm I hadn’t been tricked into making a Standing Order (which I hadn’t!). I think it would’ve been less dodgy if the first call had been from the First Direct fraud team themselves instead of HSBC’s main company.

This number claims to be the HSBC fraud department but I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. I got loads of messages saying there was suspicious activity on my account and to ring that number. It wasn’t the same as the one on my bank card. When I phoned, there was a recorded message saying it was HSBC and asking me to enter my sort code and account number. I doubt the real fraud team would ask for that. It would let scammers connect my phone to my account. Plus, my name was never mentioned and the other person on the joint account didn’t get any alerts either.

This afternoon, I received a call from HSBC concerning a transaction that appeared suspicious on my account. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about it, but after checking with my account manager, I was reassured that the number was authentic and truly belongs to HSBC.

It's astonishing, considering the nature of their approach, that this line genuinely belongs to HSBC/First Direct fraud department. I received a call that set my alarm bells ringing, prompting me to hang up and reach out to First Direct directly. They confirmed the legitimacy of the call, which then led to them contacting me back. However, I've lodged a formal complaint with First Direct, as had I not verified its authenticity, the majority of the conversation would have raised significant concerns. "Dave," from the call centre in the Philippines, poorly adhered to a script that seemed to lack any substantial content. He bombarded me with a string of awkwardly phrased and leading questions. The blunders he made were hard to overlook and unmistakably gave off a phishing vibe. I found myself steering the conversation to ensure my payment could be processed, pointing out where I'd already provided information and correcting his inaccuracies. Everything about this interaction reeked of a scam. I followed up with First Direct’s main customer service afterwards for peace of mind, and yes, it turned out to be genuine, but I must say, it was the most unprofessional experience I’ve ever encountered from an established financial institution.

I received what appears to be a genuine call from HSBC, although I didn’t pick up. Following that, I got a follow-up text featuring specifics about a transaction I had completed just the day before. Quite suspicious, to say the least!

After a payment I made failed, I got a call from this number. I wasn’t too keen on sharing my details with a woman who spoke with an accent, so she advised me to contact my bank. She also sent me a text with some info, which I just ignored. The next day, my online account was frozen. I called the number back and they managed to reactivate my online banking. When it happened again the following day, I used the phone number on the back of my card like the lady recommended, and they sorted it out again. So, all in all, I reckon this number is legit.

I got a call from HSBC First Direct on this number. I decided not to answer as I hadn’t made any calls, so I phoned the bank back using the number on my debit card. I told them about the call from 0345 266 9337. They said it was regarding a transfer I’d made earlier that day to another bank. The person on the line was really polite, respectful, and supportive, making sure I wasn’t being pressured into moving my money. Proper good customer service - I’d say the bank handled it very well.

I checked with my bank and the caller was genuinely from First Direct’s fraud team. When they called, the line was pretty scratchy and I could hear wind noise in the background. The person said they were working from home and had a fan on nearby. They tried to ask me security questions, but when I said the call didn’t sound quite right, they told me to just hang up and ring First Direct directly on their official number.

They claimed to be from HSBC's fraud team and said they were calling from the Philippines but then started quizzing me on security stuff. The line kept echoing and I could hear a kid talking softly in the backround, so I just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from HSBC fraud team, seemed proper legit. Asked them to send me the details by text with a reference number. Then I rang the number on the back of my card, talked with their fraud dept, gave them the ref number and they confirmed there was a problem. Felt safe doing it that way.

That definitely looks like a number from HSBC, so if you bank there, don’t just ignore the call. However, scammers often fake real bank numbers to try and steal your money. It's always best to ring your bank directly using the number on the back of your card to be sure. Banks call from lots of different numbers, so it’s hard to tell if a call is legit or just someone trying to scam you. Also, some scammers post fake warnings about legit bank numbers here to get people blocking them or reporting to '7726', which then flags the number as spam in future. So stay cautious!

Got a call supposedly from HSBC Fraud Line saying they were holding a payment in case I’ve been scammed. Just a heads up, always double-check and call back using a number you know is legit, especially if they start asking for personal info. These phone numbers can be faked quite easily.

This call came from First Direct’s Fraudline but it’s actually based outside the UK. After moving a big sum to another bank, they rang me up to confirm it was real. The first person on the phone wanted my personal info, which I wasnt comfy giving to a random caller. So I phoned First Direct back on their official number and they said it was legit. I always recommend using numbers you already have saved and try calling back from a different phone if you can, just in case the line’s been cloned and still open when you redial.

Got a call from what said was First Direct Fraud Team about a payment I’d just completed. I rang them back using their normal number instead of replying straight away, as there’s no way I’d give out security info to an unknown number. The official customer service line told me the payment was being looked into and I answered their questions without any issues. So, from what I can tell, this number is genuinely from First Direct. Even so, I’d still recommend ringing the official customer service number first, even if others say this one sounds legit.

This is a genuine HSBC contact number, but you should ALWAYS run a search on Google for something like "HSBC got a text" to be sure. Make sure you’re on the official HSBC website (look for HTTPS and all that). They have a few different numbers listed, and this is one of them. If you’re still not convinced or feel uneasy, just call the number on the back of your bank card instead.

This number is legit and actually belongs to HSBC and First Direct's Fraud Team. The voicemail they left was pretty odd and honestly, it made me suspicious at first, like it might be a scam. But when I called First Direct back, they told me they’d actually refused a payment I’d asked for because the payee was new and they thought it might be dodgy. Like someone else mentioned, the voicemail was pretty vague and sounded shady! They didn’t say who it was from. I don’t get why some folks are saying this number is for scams when it really isn’t.

I received a missed call from this particular number shortly after I transferred a rather substantial sum-more than I typically do. When I reached out via the live chat feature on the HSBC app, the representative informed me that the number in question isn't affiliated with HSBC. They recommended that I block it. Oddly enough, they mentioned that their fraud team had attempted to ring me at 15:38, but I haven't received any call prior to the one I got at 16:00, which was from the very number I was advised to shut down. This has certainly left me scratching my head, as HSBC appears to be a tad muddled. I did, however, call the official number on my card and got everything straightened out-it turns out it was indeed regarding that larger transfer I made.

I got a call from someone who said they were from HSBC Fraud Dept, but the message said it was from First Direct. I rang back, thinking it could be First Direct, but like others mentioned, the person on the line kept asking for details and couldn’t prove they were legit. I hung up and called First Direct on their official number. They confirmed the fraud check was real. I feel way more comfortable dealing with them directly through their proper contact rather than the number they called from. I’d suggest others do the same, just to be safe in case this number has been spoofed sometimes.

Got a call on my phone but didn’t pick up. They left a voicemail saying “this isn’t a sales call. We need to speak with you urgently,” and mentioned their working hours. They never said they were from HSBC or used my name. After looking it up here, I rang HSBC using the number on the back of my card (03457 404 404). They connected me to the fraud team. Nothing fishy has happened with my account. Apparently, real HSBC calls always include a reference number. This call had none. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from HSBC fraud team. Seemed legit as I had a payment put on hold while shifting funds between my accounts. They rang me to check and I told them the money was moving to another one of my current accounts at a different bank, so no fraud was happening. They were pretty chill about it, so I get why they checked. Everything's sorted now, funds are unlocked.

This number rang me up claiming to be from some Fraud detection team. I went along with a few questions but then got suspicious and hung up. They even texted me info about a payment and gave some sort of reference number for this "fraud check." About half an hour ago, I left a review saying the call seemed dodgy. Now HSBC has come back saying it was a genuine call from their fraud team. Honestly, I’m not sure how HSBC carries out those fraud alerts, but it doesn’t really inspire much confidence. Someone called saying they were from HSBC fraud team. I’d recently put quite a bit into my premium bonds. Called by HSBC's Payment Fraud team. At first, I didn't pick up since my caller ID flagged it as possible fraud (probably because loads of folks are reporting it as a scam on sites like this). They left a voicemail asking me to return the call. I double-checked the number on HSBC’s official site and saw it was genuine.
