I always look up any missed calls I don’t recognise. Right now I’m sorting something with Southern Water but they say this number isn’t theirs. Don’t give out any account details, instead grab an old bill and ask them to verify your last meter reading, I’m willing to bet they won’t be able to. Apparently the same number was linked to BT before too. Best to steer clear of it.

For the past few weeks, I've been getting phone calls from a bloke claiming to be Tom from BT, ringing me two or three times a day, often in the early evening. He insists on chatting about their packages but refuses to ring back at a more suitable time, saying he’s not working then. When I asked him to send the details by email instead, he claimed he couldn’t. Feels like a proper scam to me! After he called twice today already (and it was only early afternoon), I finally told him straight up to stop calling. Not holding my breath that he’ll listen, but it made me feel a bit better. I've also reported this number to Ofcom and would recommend others do the same. The more reports they get, the better chance they’ll investigate and put an end to this nuisance.

Someone called saying they were from BT, telling me my BT Sport subscription was about to run out or something. I got a call from someone called Kieran on Saturday 10/12/16, who said he was from BT. He seemed to know that my mum was the account holder so asked for her full name, the start of our address, postcode and my name too. Then he tried pushing BT Infinity really hard. When I told him I wasn’t interested, he just said “oh whatever” and hung up on me. I reported it to BT and they told me it was a fake call. He sounded pretty convincing though, so watch out and don’t get fooled. It was strange the number actually showed up since usually these scammers hide theirs.

Got a call from someone pretending to be BT saying our internet had been hacked and they needed to access our computer remotely to fix it. I asked for a proper contact number to call back, but they said it was urgent and the connection would be cut off in two hours if we didn’t cooperate. When I insisted on a real phone number, they gave me something based in Nottingham, but it’s marked as scam and definitely isn’t BT’s official number. Honestly, it's frustrating how BT has outsourced their calls overseas. We've had like four calls between 6 and 6:30 in the evening. Got a caller claiming to be from B.T., kept insisting they're part of the company. I ended up emailing BT about it, and they rang me back pretty quickly to say that number isn’t linked to them at all. Just ignore these lot!!!!

This number showed up on my caller ID around 5.27pm today (24/11/16). I didn’t pick up though, as I usually check odd numbers online before answering. After reading other folks’ reviews, it looks like a BT scam. It’s kinda ironic because I just renewed my BT line rental this morning. How do these scammers even get hold of such details? Feels like someone at BT might be leaking info. Anyway, added this number to my Panasonic home phone’s blocked list.

This number has rung me twice in the last little while. The first time was the exact day we were sorting our new BT router, and I got caught out, giving them my name and address thinking it was connected. Then after I twigged it wasn’t linked to my setup. About a week later they called again claiming to be from BT, wanting to check if I was on the best tariff. I told them we’d just got everything sorted with them not long ago.

Somebody rang me saying they were with BT, mentioning something about a broadband deal and free BT Sport from Sheffield. I got a bit wary when they started asking questions since we’d just got a letter about our BT Sport subscription. What really unsettled me was that the person knew our family name! We ended the call pretty quickly after that. BT really ought to check into this because the caller seemed quite convincing at the start.

This number has tried to ring me 3 times today. First couple of calls just ended with them hanging up. The third time I decided not to pick up. From what I understand, these silent calls happen because they use tech that pings your phone to check when someone’s actually there. That way, when a real telemarketer calls, they can tell there’s a good chance you’ll answer.

Someone called looking for a Mr Ryder or Rider, I told them they’d dialled the wrong number but they just went silent and hung up, no apology or anything. Proper rude, you’d think they’d say sorry when it’s a wrong number. Bit of a waste of my time answering, should’ve just let it ring out.

This number just rang me earlier. The guy on the other end had an accent, maybe Indian or Pakistani, and said my contract needed renewing. I’d already got my BT bill today, and there was no mention of any renewal. Felt dodgy straight away, so I just ended the call.

Picked up the phone and got a bloke who was proper pushy, wouldn’t accept when I told him I wasn’t interested in whatever he was selling or trying to get me to sign up for. He was quite nasty and seemed to want to rile me up, even when I said I was busy looking after my sick baby, he went on with “well the baby can wait” ???? which was just awful.

So this guy said he's Jason from BT but was really rude and seemed fake. He told me my contract was up, but I don’t even have a BT contract! When I asked for more info, he just couldn’t give me any. Sounds fishy to me.

Wasnt in when the phone rang a bit ago but checked the BT 1571 later. No voicemail, just dead silence. I’m always careful to look at the caller ID before picking up and I’m already signed up with the TPS and use BT’s privacy settings. What else can anyone really do? Surely there’s got to be a way to deal with these annoying calls once and for all.
