There’s this dodgy website pretending to be Sky, but when I checked, Sky said it wasn’t them. These people wanted my router number, which I didn’t give, and kept telling me not to hang up when I said I was a bit wary. They didn’t sound like proper Sky at all. If Sky really do use cheap call centres overseas, it feels like our info could be in trouble. Does anyone know a way to check if Sky is really linked to that company?

Yesterday, I got a phone call from 03442411653 claiming to be from Sky. They told me to press 1 if I had an appointment or 2 if I didn’t. Since I was expecting an appointment soon, I went ahead and pressed 1 without thinking much. They just said thanks and hung up. I got four calls from this number and every time I asked who it was, they refused to say, even though my TRUECALL app flagged them. I rang SKY because I knew I had an engineer coming soon, but they hadn’t called me with any reminder. After checking with SKY they told me it wasn’t their number, so it’s definitely a scam. Watch out, they try to get you to press a button that costs 60p a minute, pretending to be a telecoms firm and asking for your bank details, claiming they’ll sort you a better deal. Next thing you know, your account is cleared out.

I’m really fed up with seeing this number showing up on my phone bill from my Post Office broadband deal, and having to foot the cost for it! When I asked the Post Office to trace it, they just shrugged and told me to go look it up on Google myself. I’m a paying customer, so why should it be my job to track down who this number belongs to? Why can’t their own engineers figure it out, let me know which company it is, and block the number for me? It’s just not right.

Got a voicemail saying a Sky technician was meant to ring me. I rang back and ended up chatting to a really nice Sky agent with a foreign tone. They checked my account details but then tried pushing extra Sky subscription bundles on me.

I've been getting constant calls from these people, really persistent, but thankfully my phone guardian stops most of them. I rang Sky because I thought it might be their engineer checking up on an appointment for the following day. The person I spoke to on the phone didn't really sound like your typical UK accent and seemed quite indifferent. I rang this number trying to sort out my SkyBox and ended up talking to a guy who went off on a tangent asking loads of unrelated stuff. The call ended up costing me £3.25, which was annoying. Apparently, if you’re a SkyTalk customer, calls to this number are free, but if you have Sky TV like me, they aren’t. Just so you know, I’ve got a BT phone contract.
