Later got a voicemail saying the documents had been sent, and if I had questions, to call the main Coop bank line. Pretty straightforward and legit, no scams or anything dodgy.

Got a call from a Canadian number recently. Thought it was the co-op like I was waiting for, but when I rang the bank myself, it turned out it wasn’t them at all. Pretty sure whoever’s behind this number is just pretending to be legit, but they definitely aren’t.

It was definitely Co-op bank ringing me up. They wanted to double-check an appointment I’ve got lined up with them soon and mentioned they’d be sending over a questionnaire before the meeting.

Got a call from someone speaking with an Asian accent saying he was from my bank, saying there was an issue with my account. It was a scammer trying to get my info. I hung up straight away and then phoned my bank myself. They said they didn’t know anything about what the caller was saying and added a warning to my account. Very dodgy caller, definitely a fraudster. Watch out everyone!

Had a real call from Britania Building Society, which is part of the Co-op group. They asked for me using my full name and said it was just a follow-up regarding a letter I’d received about my mortgage renewal. They never asked for any personal info and the woman who called was very polite and courteous.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the Co-op but it was actually a supervisor working overtime. After a bit of insisting, this local woman with a Mancunian accent, who gave the fake name Sarah, asked me why I’d want to keep talking. She also seemed to believe she’d blocked the number. These lot are proper pushy scammers.

This number is definitely a scam, don’t trust it at all. If you’re worried, dial 159 to reach your bank’s fraud team straight away (you can find this on any official bank site). Just yesterday I got a real fraud alert and was told scammers might try to get in touch pretending to be from the bank. When this number called me, I double-checked with Co-op and they hadn’t called me at all. Clearly a fraud attempt. Also, I reckon the good reviews here are just more of the scam. Never share your details with this number!

After she left me a voicemail, I decided to ring my bank from another phone to verify, and they confirmed it was indeed a scam attempt. Quite alarming, really!

Got a call on my mobile from a woman who spoke really clearly, claiming she was from my bank. I'm pretty sure she mentioned the Coop, which is who I bank with. The day before, I’d been having trouble adding my card to my Apple Wallet, so the call didn’t seem strange at first. But something felt off and I didn’t give her any security info. When I got home, I phoned the number on my bank card and found out the call definitely wasn’t from them. It was a proper scam. Anyone saying otherwise is probably involved in the scam themselves! She was discussing a potential credit card need, and we’ve set up another chat for the 17th of March at midday. Definitely not a scam, it’s the coop bank making sure there’s no dodgy behaviour on your card. Yesterday they blocked my debit card after spotting some suspicious activity, they were aware of all 4 tries with different shops. They only asked routine questions to confirm it’s really me. I got a call from this number earlier today about a cheque I’d written yesterday. They wanted to verify that I’d actually issued it, which I did. Before that, they asked me to provide two digits from my telephone banking code to make sure they were speaking to the right person. Nowhere in the chat did they ask for bank account info or credit/debit card numbers or anything dodgy like that. After the call finished, I rang the number back and a recorded message said it was from the Co-op Bank’s fraud team but they couldn’t say why they called. So, I reckon this is a legit contact number.
