I've gotten a few calls late at night from this number, but whenever I pick up, there's just silence on the other end.

Some bloke rattled off the names of like six different life insurance firms before claiming he worked in the Life Department and wanted to chat about my life assurance. I told him I haven't got any policy with them, and he just said 'must be a mix-up' and then ended the call. I've blocked the number since then.

Got a call from a bloke with a South African accent claiming he was working for loads of big insurance companies like Aviva, L&G, and AIG. He said he wanted to check if my life insurance details were correct or something along those lines. Kept saying he needed to ask me some questions. I just told him I'd find my policy and ring the insurance company myself, then ended the call. Pretty obvious it was a dodgy phishing attempt.

There was so much noise in the background I could barely catch what he was saying, then he just ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam anyway. I’m just messing about, dragging the conversation out to waste their time and cash whenever I get calls like that :)

This afternoon, I got a call from a bloke claiming he was checking life insurance plans for customers of maybe the top four insurers. Chances are, like me, you’ve got a policy with one of those companies. He was really pushy and quite rude when I told him I wasn’t interested. To me, it felt like a scam aimed at tricking folks into believing they're dealing with their actual life insurance provider. Honestly, I’d say don’t be as polite as I was - better just to not pick up at all!

It was defo a call centre, loads of noise in the background. They asked for my name so I replied with "who's this?" They asked again if I was Ms Clare, and I just said "who wants to know?" and then they hung up. They keep calling so I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.
