I got a call from someone claiming they were from my bank, saying there was some dodgy activity on my credit card involving Amazon. They asked me to ring a certain number if I hadn’t made those transactions. The number they gave me wasn’t the same as my bank’s official one. So, I called my bank directly and they told me it definitely wasn’t them. Sounds like a scam to me.

I just got a dodgy text saying someone tried to buy something on Amazon with a Jaja card... and they even used my actual name! Problem is, I’ve never owned a Jaja credit card at all!

A few posts above here explain pretty clearly why we keep getting hassled by these scam calls! If you get a call out of the blue from your bank, make sure you ring them directly to confirm it’s legit. Never just trust random callers. And remember, you should report every suspicious scam call, not just on this website. There’s info here on how you can pass on details of scam attempts to the official system that’s run by the government alongside the police and OfCom to tackle this problem.

Huge con! Got a message saying there was some dodgy stuff going on with my bank account. When they saw we weren’t falling for it, the bloke threatened to come round and sort me out proper. Reckoned he’d earned millions just from using that kind of voice. Total madness.

Got a text supposedly from my bank, but it was totally dodgy. Don’t trust any glowing reviews around here, they’re definitely fake.

This number isn't actually from Lloyds bank, it's just scammers. Don’t bother replying, just ring your bank straight away if you want to check anything.

This is definitely a scam. I’m pretty sure the good reviews you see around here are totally made up.

WARNING!! Loads of dodgy numbers are flooding this comments section with bogus "safe" messages. About ten entries down from here, there's a detailed post explaining how to deal with these scam calls properly. Guess no one has really followed that advice because this scammer's number is still active. You’ve gotta report these things several times before anything actually gets done. Seems like most folks in the UK just don't bother, which just encourages these scammers even more.

Got a text claiming there was some unauthorised purchase on Amazon and to ring an 0333 number right away. I hadn’t made any such purchase, so I rang my bank directly using the number on my card. They confirmed straight away it was 100% a scam. They said they only ever ask you to call the number on your card, never some random one like that. Plus, the transaction they mentioned never even happened according to them.

Got a message from this number about some dodgy transaction on my Amazon account. Don’t ring it - they’re pretending to be from the bank about fraud but it’s a total con.

Someone pretending to be from First Direct called me saying there was a dodgy Amazon transaction on my card. They wanted me to confirm some details to 'protect' my account, but it felt off. Luckily, I didn’t give them anything, now I’m just wary of these scams!

There’s no doubt this is a scam, don’t listen to those reviews claiming it’s genuine - they’re probably written by the scammers themselves.

Got a ring from this number saying it was my credit card provider. Felt a bit iffy about it, so I hung up and dialed the number printed on my card instead. They confirmed it was legit, so I'd say this number is safe to trust.

Scam calls pretending to be from Lloyds Bank - be careful!

Got a dodgy text claiming to be my bank asking if I recognise a certain transaction. It told me to reply ‘Y’ or call this number right away. Real banks usually show up with their proper name in your contacts, or they just freeze your card until you ring them directly on their official line. This felt off from the start.
