Indeed! I received a call from someone purporting to be a pensions adviser linked to the government. They seemed rather keen to know why I hadn't yet taken advantage of their so-called free advice. I informed them that I'd no clue who they were, prompting them to probe into my personal pensions held with various other providers. I firmly stated that I would not, under any circumstances, share any personal information with this caller or any similar cold callers. It appears they're just trying to persuade individuals to shift their pension funds into their recommended plans. Having once been a pensions adviser myself, I strongly advise against disclosing any personal details to these individuals. They earn hefty commissions for facilitating such transfers, all of which ultimately comes out of your pension pot.

So, this bloke rang me pretending to be some government pensions advisor. He was pushing me to take up some 'free advice' I apparently hadn’t used yet. When I told him I had no clue who he was, he immediately started probing about my private pensions with different firms. I told him straight up I’m not sharing any personal info with random cold callers like him. From what I gathered, these types try to convince you to transfer your pension into their 'recommended' scheme. Speaking as someone who used to work in pensions, I’d warn against giving them any details. They earn massive commissions once you move your pension over, and it’s your fund that gets hit for it.
