Someone rang me asking if I was looking to sell a property, claiming to be from an online estate agent. I had trouble hearing her properly and asked if she could send some details by email. She replied sarcastically that since they were online, that should be enough, then hung up on me. I tried calling back to find out how they got my number, but no response.

When you do, it probably connects you to some voicemail or a recorded message, and they keep you waiting before cutting off. After that, if you check your phone bill, I reckon there might be some pricey hidden charges, likely padding this company’s profits. To me, it sounds like a dodgy scam and pretty much stealing. I doubt they’re even operating from the UK though. Anyone else had the same experience?

I tried calling back and got this weird automated system that said it would put me through to the next free agent, but after ringing for ages, nothing happened. After about 5 minutes a voice finally said goodbye and just cut the call. If this is how Rightmove operates, they really should be looked into and maybe even fined!

When I asked who they were, they said something like Betterimers Estate agents. Someone rang me pretending to be from an estate agent (didn’t quite catch the company) about an online valuation of my house, which I apparently requested. They did have my name and address, so it wasn’t just a random autodial. My number’s on the TPS do-not-call list. When I told them I definitely hadn’t asked for any valuation since I’m not planning to move, they said must be some mistake and ended the call pretty quickly (guess they figured no point trying to sell me anything since I’m not interested).
