This number has been constantly bothering me, calling my mobile about 5 or 6 times a day at all sorts of random hours for the past month and a half. Out of curiosity, I called the number back and it came up as Promis Life Insurance. I already have life insurance and never shared my details with anyone else. How do these firms manage to get hold of people’s phone numbers without asking or getting consent first? I was under the impression that anonymous cold calls are against the law if you don’t have the person’s permission, which this company clearly doesn’t.

They told me I’d won some contest, but to claim the prize I needed to get a life insurance quote through them first. When I asked them to delete my number, they flat out refused, saying they’d purchased it so they weren’t deleting it. Proper cheeky and rude bunch.
