Like others have mentioned, the chap from Octopus Energy was polite and even knew my name and phone number, which means my info has been shared at some point. I’m pretty cautious about who I give my number to, so it’s probably a company I’ve used online that’s passed it on. Bit irritating, really.

On 14th May 2019, I had a phone call from someone called Baz Iqbal at the number 03334439987. He claimed to be representing Octopus Energy and appeared to possess quite a bit of knowledge, even supplying me with their helpline number. However, when I contacted the helpline, they couldn't confirm if he was indeed associated with their Sheffield office. Even though he seemed well-informed, I've decided it’s best to reach out to the company directly. I've taken my time to compare offers before committing to anything, and I must say, Octopus offers the most competitive rates for my needs. But I remain sceptical of anyone who calls me unsolicited. Got called 4 times in just one day - that’s gotta be some kinda record! The only reason I didn’t block them sooner was ‘cos the ringtone drives my workmates mad. But now, I’ve just had enough and blocked the number. No point in them calling trying to get me to switch suppliers when I’ve already said I’m renting and can’t change anything. What muppets!

Looks like I stumbled upon a firm named Oxford Energy. So, I gave them a ring, only to be met with a rather unhelpful response! They informed me they were shut for the day and suggested I ring back during office hours-oddly enough, it was a lovely 14:10 at the time! Quite the reluctance to answer the phone, it seems! 😂

0333 calls? Always a pain. Got one last week, and again today from a similar number. Last time it was some fake accident compensation claim, today they were pretending to be from an energy saving service. Honestly, best just to ignore them (though I pick up sometimes cause I’m curious about who they’ll claim to be next!). Definitely add them to your block or reject list. My mobile network even lets you block third-party calls, which helps loads.

03334439987 keeps ringing me non stop. I’ve managed to come up with a way to spot these annoying calls quick. At first, I blocked them but my phone ran out of room, so now I save them under the letter Z in my contacts with a number after each one. I put all these Z’d contacts into a group called BAD NUMBERS. Then, to avoid rushing to answer just to get spam, I set a special ringtone for that group. So now I hear that tone and just ignore them right away. Any new unknown numbers that don’t leave a voicemail go straight into the Z contacts and added to that group too. Works well for me.
