I told him it was actually fixed a couple years ago. He then said maybe his info was old and said he'd update our account details. Tried to get my address but I refused and he just ended the call. When you refuse to share your details, they get really pushy and quite rude. I tried ringing the number they provided to stop the calls, but then it just tells you to leave your info on an answering machine. Bit odd, right? Definitely not the way to handle it!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be with D&G. She sounded really nice and even wished me a happy new year. She somehow knew the brand of dishwasher I have insured through them. But when she asked me to verify my address, I got a bit wary and told her to ring me later when I’m not so busy. They’ve been ringing quite often lately, so I’ve just blocked the number now. I’ve seen this number pop up on my phone before, including today. They never bother leaving a voicemail. It also rang on my home phone a while back. A bloke claimed he was with Domestic & General and oddly seemed aware I’d just had my boiler fixed. Then he went on to try and push extra cover for other appliances and an upgrade for my boiler cover. When I asked for any info in writing, he wasn’t willing to send anything and pressured me to decide then and there. Definitely not picking up if this number calls again.

This is the second time in seven days someone’s rung me up saying they’re from Domestic & General. The first call seemed legit as they mentioned details about a claim I’d made recently. But then, a second call came through from a different number, asking follow-up questions about that first chat, which felt dodgy. Number got blocked right away. I worked in a call centre before and wouldn’t put it past D&G to have sold our numbers and details to who knows who, which is probably why these dodgy calls pretending to be from them sometimes have bits of info correct. What’s really strange is that it doesn’t seem to originate from within the UK, even though the caller ID shows it as a UK number.
