You should block the number and report it to 7726 (just so you know, it’s not a police hotline). It’s also a good idea to drop an email to your MP asking two things: why can’t we report scam attempts straight to the police’s ‘action fraud’ system anymore? And why hasn’t the phone industry rolled out Caller ID Authentication tech to cut down on all these scam calls? If you get scam texts, forward them to 7726 too. For scam emails or screenshots of text scams, send them over to the police at ‘[email protected]’ so they can look into it.

Looks like this number is going round quite a bit at the moment. The voice sounded really robotic, made me think it might be some sort of AI trying to catch keywords and reply back. I ended up keeping him chatting for more than an hour, trying to convince him to buy a fancy funeral package with a diamond coffin, unicorns hauling a golden hearse, and goblins as pallbearers.
