I got a call from 0333 339 4487, so I tried calling them back using the number on my Nationwide card, but they said it wasn’t theirs. Really strange because some of these numbers seem to be linked to HSBC too! Definitely feels like a scam to me.

I got a message from "Nationwide" saying I've set up a new payee and to ring a certain number if it wasn't me. It's not in any way from Nationwide, I phoned the number on the back of my card and they said it's nothing to do with them. Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if some of the folks claiming it’s legit are actually scammers trying to trick you into calling their number. Definitely DO NOT call the number in the message. Instead, get in touch with your bank through the official number you know and speak to a proper person.

Got a message from this number saying someone had added a new payee to my bank account and to ring them if it wasn’t me. Definitely don’t phone that number! I rang up Nationwide using the number on the back of my card and they said they hadn’t sent any texts. Normally, if there’s a problem, the fraud team at the bank will give you a call themselves.

Watch out, this number is a scam! I received a text with a one-time passcode for a purchase I never did, telling me to call that same number. The message looked nothing like the usual OTPs I get from HSBC. I rang the bank using the number on my credit card just to be sure and HSBC confirmed it’s a fraudster’s number. Don’t trust any other texts you might get from them, they’re most likely from the scammers trying to confuse people.

Beware of scam calls pretending to be from HSBC. We got a text saying there was a suspicious transaction and to ring this number if it wasn’t us. Sadly, my husband believed it was genuine, and now they've managed to steal money from our accounts and even taken out loans using his details. It's such a nightmare.

It’s quite obvious to me that the red comments come from one single person. They keep insisting they’re not from the bank, but never explain why they think that’s true. Makes me suspicious.

Those green tagged messages down there seem kinda dodgy to me. I’d say ring up your bank using the number on the back of your card just to be sure. If it turns out to be a scam, which I pretty much reckon it is, make sure you let the police know by reporting it through 'action fraud'.
