Just received an email about a payment of £349.99 to a dentist and it said if I didn’t do it to ring the number shown. It looked pretty convincing at first, but NatWest usually shows part of your postcode when they send these alerts. This one didn’t have anything like that, so I knew straight away it was dodgy. Took a quick peek at my bank account anyway and luckily everything seems fine. Definitely a scam trying to catch people out!

This morning my partner got an email supposedly from this number claiming a dental clinic tried to take £349.99 from his bank. It asked if the payment was legit and to call their number if he didn’t approve it. The email seemed quite real at first glance but we knew straight away it was dodgy. Just to be safe, we checked our bank and everything was fine. Seriously, don’t ever ring the phone number they provide. Total scam!

I got an email asking if a recent transaction was mine, and to ring them if it wasn’t. I didn’t bother calling back since it seemed fishy, especially because I don’t have any account like the one mentioned.

I got an email telling me to ring this number. It seemed pretty legit since there were no spelling errors, but it was weird that it didn’t begin with ‘Dear Mr...’ or anything like that. I gave the number a call but the ringtone was strange, so I just ended up hanging up.

Dealing with scam emails is pretty straightforward. You just need to forward them over to '[email protected]'. The reply I got from the NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY CENTRE was quite interesting. Also, don’t forget to use the phishing report option - it's usually found under the three dots at the top right of your inbox. The police receive these reports and the sender’s address gets blacklisted as phishing or spam across email providers. Easy as that!
