I had a bit of a scare when my mother-in-law’s fall alarm started blaring! I rushed over to see if she was alright, and thankfully, she was perfectly fine. She mentioned that it had gone off for no reason, but I have to say, I’m really impressed with the service!

This particular number belongs to Apello Careline, associated with those who have a pull cord for emergencies in their homes or sport an SOS necklace or bracelet. If you're receiving a call from them, it’s likely because someone has designated you as an emergency contact. Should Apello struggle to reach you or if the individual who set off the alarm fails to respond, they will promptly dispatch an ambulance to the subscriber's location.

I wasn't enrolled in this service, and as far as I'm aware, neither is anyone I know. So I was rather miffed to get a phone call at 1am. It disturbed everyone in the house. I chose not to pick up since the number was unfamiliar.

Lifeline Intercoms is a truly reputable outfit. I can’t speak highly enough of their service! They are incredibly responsive and consistently go the extra mile. Specialising in the provision and upkeep of two-way communication systems, they play a pivotal role in supporting those who are more vulnerable. Such a reliable team!

The phone buzzed at 7:16 in the morning, but I let it ring and missed the call. Out of curiosity, I took to Google with the number and discovered it belonged to Apello, a helpline of sorts. After ringing them back, I was informed I was listed as the emergency contact for a chap I’ve never had the pleasure of knowing. Apparently, they dialled me using an old landline number linked to my iPad. They claimed to have reached out to his nearest relative, who mentioned my name as a point of contact. I asked them to take me off their list, and they assured me they would. Quite puzzling and a bit concerning, if I'm honest. I've gone ahead and blocked the number for good measure.

At around ten to one this morning, on the 12th of December, 2022, I was abruptly stirred from my slumber by a call from this number. I couldn’t really converse given the hour. I decided to return the call and found out it was from the Apelo Centre, but they asked me to hold on for a handler to become free. I promptly terminated the call since I didn't have a clue who they were. Quite annoyed, to be honest, about the timing of this interruption.

I was quite baffled by this mysterious phone call until I decided to search for the number on this site. After that, I rang my 91-year-old mum, only to find out she'd inadvertently set off her emergency alarm while in the loo. Thankfully, everything was fine in the end! It just goes to show that the system is effective, as my sister and a nearby neighbour were also informed. Now, I've saved the number under a proper name. I do think the service could do with giving a bit more context about who they are calling and why; all I received was a message mentioning an Arthur Black, which was rather vague!

Authentic Careline service for those red emergency cords in sheltered accommodation. The name of the provider is Apello. Should you receive a call from them, it probably means that a senior family member has activated the alarm in their residence.

Dear Anonymous, I noticed you've flagged this number as a hazard (shown in red). However, this line is actually linked to an emergency service that handles alerts from elderly care homes, responds to red cord pulls, arranges ambulance services, and alerts family members. Your baseless remark could unintentionally dissuade someone from answering a critical emergency call. I kindly urge you to reconsider and take down your comment.

Received a rather odd phone call on Sunday. The caller threw out a friend's name—someone who passed away roughly five years back—and claimed I was his next of kin. I quickly clarified that wasn't the case, as he has a sister and a nephew who would fit that role instead. The chap insisted he sourced this information from a solicitor named Hope, but I discovered that particular lawyer retired last year. To top it off, the office confirmed they don’t operate on Sundays and suspected it was just a scam. Quite bizarre, to say the least!
