Sure enough, I get a proper text from Vodafone prompting me to ring 191 to settle my account or to log into my Vodafone account online. Got a call from someone pretending to be Vodafone, saying my bill was overdue and asking for my account info. My bill was actually due, so definitely a well played scam!

If I hadn’t called 191 myself, I’d never have known and probably ended up owing Vodafone, even though it wasn’t my fault. I was pretty annoyed, especially when they said I'd be hit with a £12.50 late fee. I told them if they even thought about charging me that, I’d make a fuss and wouldn’t pay a penny. So, folks, definitely double-check your direct debits and see if their new system hasn’t messed up your payments.

It’s not a scam, it’s actually Vodafone who have updated their database. If you’ve had a couple of numbers with them in the past, the new system isn’t combining your accounts properly. That means the money isn’t being taken from your direct debit, even though it should be, so your account looks overdue. Took me about three weeks to get it fixed. The first live chat rep I got was more focused on trying to sell me broadband than helping me sort the problem out.

Be careful, these calls try to look like they’re from Vodafone saying you missed a bill, but the number isn’t genuine. Always ring the official Vodafone helpline yourself to see if you actually owe anything before handing over any bank info to callers. It’s definitely a scam!

I got a call from this number and thought it might be legit, but after ringing Vodafone's official customer service (number straight from their website), they told me this isn’t one of their lines. They also checked the account number the caller mentioned and said it’s not valid. I decided to call the number back myself, keeping my number private, and honestly, the voicemail greeting seemed off and kinda dodgy. The person I ended up speaking to definitely sounded foreign and suspicious, like they were trying to scam me. I'd strongly advise not to give them any info!
