Got a message claiming to be from “Vodafone” but it didn’t come through my normal message thread with them, so I was a bit wary. Today I got a call from this number and some robot voice claimed to be from the fraud department of Visa and Mastercard. They said they’d blocked a payment of £840 from somewhere (couldn’t really catch where) and told me to press 1 to speak to them. What a nightmare! These scammers somehow did a SIM swap on my Vodafone line. Suddenly, I lost all signal and they started receiving my texts. They even used my number to break into my email. So on Monday I moved my number from Three using a PAC and switched it to a Vodafone SIM before going back to Three with a new contract. Without a doubt, this is a total scam. I thought I was clever enough to spot every scam call, but this one got me good. When you ring this number, you get a voicemail that sounds exactly like Vodafone’s 191 with the same voice. They managed to shut down my phone account, order a new SIM and an iPhone X through my Vodafone account. Took me a couple of days to sort out my phone situation, and probably because of this, someone racked up over £2,000 on my credit card. Big thanks to Vodafone and my credit card provider for handling it all so quickly though.

Got a voicemail alert on my phone and when I listened, it was a recorded voice telling me my number had apparently rung “from a landline” with a specific number and then gave me another one - 01709918620 - to ring if I wanted to stop getting more messages. There was nothing else said. I’m not risking calling that “opt out” line, it smells like a scam to me.

I got a call asking me to ring back as part of some computer scam. When I called, some bloke said he was with an independent firm working with Apple. Total nonsense! Why on earth would Apple direct you to some random company with no name? I called him out right there, saying it was an obvious con, and he started shouting at me telling me to shut up!
