Some bloke called me saying he was Chris from my bank, warning me about suspicious activity on my account. He had this posh British accent and I was actually driving when he rang, so I was a bit distracted but he seemed genuine. After I ended the call, I looked up the number and found out it was a total con. Be careful out there.

haha! got a call from someone saying he's Kelvin Dell, sounded south Asian. he kept going on about some FCA thing and that he was sorting a £3000 tax refund for me. then he wanted a cheque and went through a bunch of details, asking me to repeat them. when I asked why, the bloke just hung up on me!

Kelvin Bell here, so they demand £3000 in bank fees to be refunded, then suddenly a solicitor shows up with documents. They’re asking for photo ID and a signature, saying the solicitor’s called Miss Linda Edward and works for the government. They also want me to buy a Google Play card to cover a 5% government commission. Sounds dodgy to me!

I got a call saying they were from the FCA, but when I checked with them, it turns out it was a total lie. Be really cautious about giving out your details, and don’t agree to any calls where they offer you a cheque and then ask for ID.

Got a call from Roy Morrison using the number 02032878318 but then he asked me to return his call at 03333034194. Same story as what others have mentioned, some Mrs Julie Green supposedly coming to my neighbourhood with a cheque and maybe trying to scan a Google Pay card. I've blocked those numbers now, it’s a total scam but some people might fall for it easily, honestly.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the FCA. They said I could get £3000 back if I sent £150 via a Google Card first. Told me it was a refund from the bank for being overcharged before. They went on and on about a solicitor delivering a cheque, I even gave them a time to ring me back. Feels like a right con. The bloke called himself Roy Morrison, and the solicitor was called Julie Green. Really pushy bunch.

Monica Patil sounded so believable. Who else wanders around handing out cheques as a lawyer? And charging a 5% tax on a refund that’s meant to be paid with a Google Play card? This has scam written all over it!

At first I figured it was just a scam, but turns out they didn't skim my card or anything. Actually, a cheque for £5700 cleared in my bank a few days ago. Cheers to Adam Smith from the FCA for this!

Got a call from a guy named Steve Kumar at FCA, who told me I’d overpaid about £3,000 on my mortgage or credit cards ages ago and was due a refund. It all seemed pretty believable since he didn’t ask for info he wouldn’t already have. He said I could have the money sent via bank transfer or have someone deliver a cheque. But then he said I’d need to pay 5% upfront over the phone to get the cheque that same afternoon. I just told him I wasn’t handing over any cash and I was about to hang up.

I got a couple of calls from someone called Ray Morris claiming he worked for the Financial Complaints Authority. After chatting to him twice, it became clear he was trying to pull a fast one, especially when he kept switching up his story. The biggest red flag was when he said I needed to buy a gift card to pay tax on a cheque they supposedly wanted to send me. Definitely a scam.

Some bloke said he was Kelvin Bell and told me a mate nearby was on his way with a £3000 cheque, but first, I had to sort out a 3% tax fee. He even dropped some refs and seemed to know my name and address. They rang from 01212708262 but told me to ring 03333034194 instead. I heard him out until he started on that tax thing to release the cash. I ended the call there and haven’t heard back. Definitely a scam in my book.

Got a call from 03333034194, they said they were from a financial company and that my late husband supposedly owed some money. They asked for his info but I told them I didn’t have any. They wanted me to ring back the next day with the details. When I tried, the number wouldn’t connect, no reply at all and then the line just went dead. Total scammers.

Some bloke called himself Adam Smith, sounded Asian, said he worked for the Financial Conduct Authority. He told me there’s a solicitor, Barbara King, who’s dropping off a cheque for £3000. He told me to pop into my local shop - he even named it and the street - and buy a Paysafe voucher for £150. Then to ring him back on 03333034194. After that, he said he’d contact the solicitor nearby, who’d stamp the voucher and hand over the cheque. Then I’m meant to take both to the bank. I haven’t a clue how they profit from it, but honestly, it smells like a scam to me.
