Got called by some dodgy loan company, felt like a total scam. Wouldn’t trust them for a second.

I’d been trying to get a loan but kept getting turned down. Then out of nowhere, I got a call from 03333034017. A guy with an Indian accent told me they knew I’d been struggling to get a loan and offered to help. He said he had all my info already and promised the money would be in my account in about 10 minutes. Sounded great at first! But then he started going on about needing me to pay £250 upfront for the first month. I went ahead and paid it. After that, he said there was a £499 tax I had to pay before they'd release the loan, but it was supposed to be refunded. I only had £170 left, so I gave that to them as well. They told me to find the rest soon if I wanted the loan. Now I just feel so daft for falling for it!

After handing over that amount, they then claimed I needed to pay £450 upfront for some kind of tax linked to the loan before the funds would be released, promising this would be refunded later. It just didn’t sit right with me, I felt I'd been tricked. I’d never come across paying tax upfront for a loan before. I’m feeling really foolish and upset, especially since I couldn’t really afford to lose that £110. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I got a loan offer from a place using the number 03333034017 and was asked to pay the first payment of £110 straight away, which I did. Afterwards, they said I needed to pay £450 as a tax before they could send the loan to me, promising it would be given back later. That sounded fishy from the start - I’ve never come across anything like that. I feel proper daft and heartbroken for getting caught out in this scam and losing my £110, especially since I really couldn’t afford to lose that money.
