I just can’t figure out how these dodgy people get their hands on phone numbers to run these scams. Received an email saying “Argos UK Payment Declined (Verify it’s you)”. It claimed my debit or credit card was temporarily blocked to stop a suspicious charge of £249.99 to Argos UK. They wanted me to ring the Payment Fraud Prevention Team right away on 0333 300 2940.
