I think this is a firm dealing with debt management stuff. They must have my number linked to my Experian profile or something (my credit’s decent since I don’t carry any debt, but still, I get calls and letters about debts and credit cards like all the time). When I let the call ring out and then dial back, there’s a message telling you to press 1 to chat with someone there or press 2 if you want to be removed from their calls. When I expressed my desire for them to remove my number from their database, the chap on the line was surprisingly confrontational. He questioned why I wouldn’t engage with him, despite not even knowing the nature of his call. I reiterated my preference to avoid unsolicited calls. He responded by asking if I had any debts, to which I firmly stated I did not. He then pressed on with, "So you don’t have any arrears on your council tax?", to which I affirmed that was indeed the case. His final remarks included a faux polite farewell, to which I coldly replied that I wished I could say the same. This led to an onslaught of unpleasant language coming my way.
