Cavity walls exist to help keep the house dry by letting air pass freely through the gap. If you fill that cavity with insulation, it actually makes it easier for damp to get through to the inside wall. The big problem is that insulation shifts the point where inside and outside temps balance out - where moisture condenses - from the cavity to the external bricks, causing frost to freeze the moisture and cause the bricks to spall. Just have a look at how quickly some new buildings start to look battered after a couple years.

Yet another dodgy caller! When I pressed them for their identity and the reason behind their call, they abruptly hung up. Truly, that's not how reputable businesses behave, is it?

I just had a phone call from 03332128427, claiming to be from the Energy Care Centre, even though I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service. The chap on the other end seemed completely unaware that there are hefty fines, potentially up to £10,000, for making such calls. What a cheek!

I've been getting a multitude of irritating calls from both Glow Warm at 0161 6390569 and the Energy Care Centre on 03332 128427. Every time I try to ask for their names, they just hang up! Quite frustrating, isn't it?

Had a call today from someone claiming to be from the energy store, saying they wanted to do an energy check. I told them I’m on the TPS and also part of the GMP, which seemed to really annoy the bloke. He ended up threatening to kill me, do ###, and even arson. Definitely not a company you can trust.

Had a bloke with a Northern accent say he's gonna check all me windows and doors. Said if any ain't good they'll swap 'em out, like that's believable. I asked, "So, you're with a window firm then?" Next thing, he just ended the call.

Got a call from this number just now, all I could hear was some office background noise. Then they hung up on me. I tried checking who it was with 1471 and called back, but it said the number wasn’t valid or recognised. Strange!

They call me like twice a week, always askin for some bloke I've never met. I've told em loads of times he ain't at this address, but they just keep on ringin. Honestly, I’m startin to find it a bit funny. Today, the guy got proper nasty tho. Think I might have to give it back to him next time!

I received a call from a chap named Dillon, claiming to be from the Energy Centre. He inquired if I was the homeowner and dove straight into a spiel about cavity wall insulation, to which I mentioned I already had it sorted. Then he proceeded to suggest the next step would be windows and doors. I informed him I had those as well. His cheeky response was, “Naturally, you’ve got windows and doors. Think for a moment!” At that point, I decided enough was enough and hung up. Does he genuinely believe being impudent would win him any customers?

Total muppets. Rang earlier today at 11.39am. It went straight to answerphone but they didn’t even seem to notice. All you can hear on the message is them chatting away with their mates!! The number that called was 03332128427.

He claimed he was from Energy Savers. I told him I don’t appreciate getting cold calls and he insisted it wasn’t cold calling since they’d phoned me before and I supposedly asked for a callback. Yeah, right!!!

Had yet another unsolicited call this morning from some so-called 'energy management firm.' I inquired about the reason for their call since I never expressed interest in their services. They promptly hung up on me. Honestly, a company with any sort of integrity wouldn’t behave like that.

Energy Centre, or sometimes Energy Care - now it's Energy Glass - calls me every single month. Each time I ask for their website to check who they really are, but the name changes every time. This round, they actually gave me the name of a real, proper company. I even rang that company to warn them that this dodgy lot, who are total cowards, are using their name in a scam. So many lies - it's ridiculous. Isn't there any way to put a stop to this?

I've got an answerphone that’s always switched on, and I use caller ID to know who's ringing. I don’t pick up if I don’t recognise the number, and any call I miss goes straight to the answerphone after just a few rings. I can listen to what’s left and if it sounds important, I’ll answer. Most unwanted calls like this one don’t bother leaving a message. This time, all that was on the line was some background chatter from a call centre, so I ended the call myself. The good thing about this method is that these callers usually give up after a while since they never get a response.
