I just found out they took £190 from my bank without even telling me, claiming it’s for some kind of insurance for home appliances. Never got any heads-up about it.

No call came through, but money was withdrawn from my bank account after they attempted the same scam last year.

I've come across this dodgy scam being run by a few people - Guy Stevens and Ed Plant from Newhaven, plus Rob Sturgess over in Brighton and Hove. Definitely watch out for these names.

Just saw that Rip off Britain episode that showed what these warranty firms get up to. Honestly, the way some of those people act is just terrible, all driven by nothing but greed. Proper nasty stuff.

Looks like Home Cover Group has rebranded itself as HOME PAYMENTS LIMITED, with Stuart Gibson and Daniel Hopkins as directors. Fun fact: Gibson used to be involved with Service Monkey, JDS Assist, and Davis Group - all of which ended up dissolved. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

I’ve been receiving some dodgy calls that keep switching between talking about insurance, pestering me about blocking nuisance calls, and pitching equity release schemes, all while trying to pry my bank details from me. They even claimed to be associated with the UK Anti Fraud Alliance and said they had the government’s backing! What a load of nonsense!

Comment by A. Smith 3 months prior It came to my attention that Luke Ballantyne once held the position of Director at HML Consultants but stepped down in November 2019, with Sarah Aldrige taking over the directorship at that time. Interestingly, Ballantyne is currently listed as a Director of 'Home Cover Group Limited,' yet another firm that provides extended warranties for household appliances. Their contact number is 0333 2125609. I've stumbled upon several posts indicating that this might be a scam operation. When they ring you up, they suggest that you already have an extended warranty policy with them and are fishing for your bank details to supposedly renew it. It appears to be the same old tactic aimed at extracting sensitive financial information once more.

Had a phone call from a guy named Josh claiming to be from Home Cover Group. He said my policy for fridge, freezer, and cooker was about to expire in June. Thing is, I dont even have a policy like that! When I refused to hand over my bank account and sort code, he tried telling me he wasn’t after the long number, but I wasn’t having any of it. Seriously, don’t give out your bank details to this company or anyone else. If you do have a policy, they’ll send you a renewal letter in the post - they don’t call you up out of the blue. Watch out, sounds like a right scam!

Honestly, these scam artists are the worst. They should be locked up in a high-security jail or sent straight to a mental asylum. It’s crazy how openly they talk about the dodgy stuff they do and even advertise their dodgy jobs on social media - it really says a lot about how messed up their heads and ethics are. And what’s with calling money “cash monies”? Sounds like total plonkers with zero common sense or decency!

Absolute morons, these scam artists make a living off cheating people, especially targeting the old and vulnerable. What really gets me is how they actually think it’s funny. Their behaviour screams instability and madness. Honestly, these creeps should really reflect on what they’re doing. It’s just disgraceful.

People pulling off scams like this must be really full of themselves, which is probably why they don’t mind having their own listings get slammed with bad reviews. Truly horrible individuals.

So, apparently "We Warranty Limited" got hit with a compulsory strike off by Companies House on the 24th of March. From what I gathered, Sarah Aldridge, who seems to have connections with Rob Sturgess, was listed as the director. Quite a mess!

Home Cover Group Limited seems to be up to no good, peddling insurance for your household appliances. These con artists are running a number of dodgy operations aimed squarely at prising bank or card details from older and more vulnerable individuals. Their tactic involves ringing you up and suggesting that your warranty or insurance for your appliances is no longer valid and requires immediate renewal. They will attempt to extract your banking information under the guise of securing payment. It's crucial that you keep your payment details to yourself. If you receive such a call, simply hang up, block the number, and report it to Action Fraud without delay.

Turns out this is the main contact number for Home Cover Group. They seem pretty shady, pushing you to sign up for insurance on your electrical stuff like TVs and washing machines. Their trick is making you think you've already got coverage that’s about to run out, but actually you don’t have any policy with them at all. They don’t even know what brand or model your appliances are. Definitely steer well clear of these lot.
