I received a phone call that was rather dubious, claiming to be from BT, stating they were reversing their recent price hike and would upgrade my broadband speed. Alarm bells instantly went off in my head! Thankfully, they didn’t ask for my bank details, but they did inquire about my date of birth, which I reluctantly provided. The chap mentioned I’d receive an email regarding my so-called upgraded plan. I promptly contacted BT afterwards, only to find out it was a scam! The only detail I shared with that young British bloke was my date of birth. Quite worrying, to say the least! 😟

So I got a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying they were cancelling the price increase and promising to boost my broadband speed. Something felt off straight away. They didn’t ask for my bank info, which was a relief, but they did ask for and confirm my birthday. The guy said he’d send me an email with the new “deal”. I called BT right away and they confirmed it was definitely a scam. The only thing I told the caller was my birthday and nothing else.

Got a call from someone called Callum saying they were from BT but the number they used was 0800800152, even though 1471 showed 03332124528. I looked it up online and seems like it’s some premium number that keeps bugging my dad. We don’t even have any BT services so it’s pretty annoying. We’re sorting out a block on the number with our phone company now.

I received a call from an individual purporting to represent BT, saying they could reduce our line rental charges. It raised my eyebrows immediately, so I decided to cut the conversation short and hang up. Better to be safe than sorry!

Got a call today from someone claiming to be from BT, saying they noticed I'm already a customer and tried to offer me an upgraded deal. They said they didn’t need my bank info since they supposedly already had it. I’m not convinced it was BT though, since I’m with Virginmedia for my internet. Feels like it could be some sneaky trick to get people to switch over to BT without realising. Not really sure what the deal is.

Somebody called claiming they worked for BT and needed my details, but BT themselves have no clue who these people are. Definitely a scam, watch out!
