The folks doing these calls should really understand that most Brits are smart enough to check stuff out themselves and decide on phone deals and prices on their own. Don’t pick up if it’s a random number you weren’t expecting. Easy as that. If you have to answer unknown numbers for work, then those cold callers deserve a proper telling off. Right from the beginning I had a feeling it was some kind of scam. They kept asking if I was the account holder for “this O2 account” but when I tried to get the name on the account to check, they just kept pushing and getting annoyed I wasn’t giving in. A bloke with a thick accent said he was from O2 and got really pushy when I told him I wasn’t an O2 customer but wouldn’t say who I was with instead. When I stood my ground, he kept going on about his system showing I was with O2. Pretty soon I sussed out it wasn’t really O2 and had a bit of a back and forth with him asking what he actually wanted, and he got quite nasty. Fingers crossed they leave me alone now, but they’ve rung me like 10 times before.

I reckon I’ve messed up by handing over my email to some bloke named Aron Warner. I accidentally typed the number wrong the first time I checked it out and it seemed alright. But having a proper look now, I’m not sure what damage he could do with my phone details. He was talking about setting up a Multisave deal for O2 and Vodafone, which I do have, so reading the comments here really makes me feel daft and worried about what might come next. It all sounded pretty legit since I checked O2’s site and Multisave is a real thing, but I did feel a bit rushed into it.

I received a rather peculiar call yesterday from an individual sporting an Indian accent, claiming to be representing O2 and offering me some sort of discount.
