Got calls from this number twice. First time, no sound at all. Second time, some bloke claimed to be from British Gas, but I’m not sure. When I asked for a reference number so I could check with British Gas myself, they said they couldn’t provide one. Only gave a first name. The call might have been legit, but the way the guy spoke was pushy and aggressive. Didn’t feel right. I’ve blocked the number and labelled it as annoying on my phone.

Got a call today from an Indian call centre pretending to be British Gas, saying our meter is about to fail and must be replaced, so we need to arrange an appointment. Got a call from 0333 202 9470 claiming to be 'British Gas', said my smart meter needs replacing. I told them I’m just a tenant and can’t give permission, asked if I could arrange it online via 'my account' and they said yes. When she asked if I needed more info, I said no thanks. Later saw another call from the same number but missed it. Checked this number here and found others had a quite similar experience. Then I got a text from +44 7378 905145 asking me to rate their service.

Got a call like that from someone saying they were British Gas. I said I'd need to check with my landlord first, but they said I didn’t need any permission. They wanted to verify my info, but I refused to share anything. Asked them to send me their number and said I’d ring back. They weren’t impressed, so I just hung up.

This number really belongs to British Gas. Today I found a "Sorry we missed you" card with British Gas details on it, including this phone number. When I called, it went straight to the official British Gas recorded menu, identical to the main Customer Service line at 0333-202-9882. It’s possible scammers might spoof this number since some fake numbers can pass through the BT system without actually being call-able outwardly. But as far as I can tell, this number genuinely belongs to British Gas.

Got another call today, and honestly, I'm getting fed up with these. I answered, and it was yet another telemarketer trying to sell me something. I told him I wasn’t interested, but he just kept going on. So, I just hung up and waited for him to stop talking.

Funny thing is, I’m already sorting out my smart meters with British Gas myself, so I know it’s a bit complicated. They usually send a letter or notify you through their app before the visit.

Someone told me I don’t need my landlord’s okay to tweak my metering setup as a tenant, which is just not right. I thoroughly checked my tenancy agreement before moving and it clearly states I need permission before making any changes. The complaints team at British Gas informed me that the number in question belongs to their Smart Meter Installation crew. I got in touch with them after receiving numerous unsolicited calls from 03332004455, claiming to be from British Gas and discussing the replacement of my old meter. Initially, I suspected it was a scam, and while it seems that’s not entirely the case, one can't ignore the fact that cold callers can now easily spoof numbers. Should you decide to engage with them, especially if you're keen on a smart meter, be wary if they mention any charges for installation-just hang up! This service can be organised directly with British Gas at no cost whatsoever. I opted to voice my concerns to British Gas as well, since I shouldn’t have had to deal with such relentless calls from this number. If they wish to retain their clientele, it's high time they ceased this pestering!

Plus, why does the number not even work? Just block and report it, that’s the only way this’ll stop. Had about four calls on my phone in three days. Answered this arvo and the woman with a foreign accent asked if I was Mrs ?. When I asked what she wanted, she said something about upgrading my meter. So this nice sounding girl called Chlamydia (I wasn’t joking, I had to check twice too) kept telling me I needed a smart meter fitted. I said no thanks and she wasn’t too pleased about that. Seriously, is this really the top job these folks can get? Actually, I think I just answered that myself. I've missed 33 calls from this number, which I think is BG as well. Like another person mentioned, this all began after he logged into his online account. For me, it kicked off right after the online meter reading on Friday, August 9th.

Got a call from these scammy lot again yesterday. Since I’m with British Gas, I asked this bloke from up north for my security password to prove he was legit. His reply? “We can sort that after you give us your info.” Proper dodgy, that. No password, no info from me. No surprise Iain Conn bags £3 million a year while these call centre workers probably get peanuts, like £17,000 a year or something. I’m gonna block this number now like this website advises.

I received a phone call from this number at 09:49 this morning. The caller claimed to represent British Gas, stating they wished to arrange the installation of a smart meter. However, they offered no proof of identity and seemed unaware that I had switched to a different energy provider back in June. Additionally, I’ve been receiving dubious text messages that allegedly originate from British Gas, urging me to reply at no expense to secure an appointment for the smart meter installation. When I tried to respond, my phone warned that charges might apply. I reached out to British Gas to clarify the matter, and the chap at the call centre initially confirmed the call was legit, but after a second inquiry, he reversed his stance and claimed it wasn’t from them at all. I genuinely believe this situation warrants further investigation, as it seems possible that scammers are somehow getting sensitive information from within the company itself.

Like loads of others seeminly, this 03332004455 number has been blowin up my phone way more the last few weeks. We’ve made a rule not to pick up any unrecognised numbers now, figuring if it’s important, they’ll leave a message. But with this one, no message ever shows up! Heard it’s connected to British Gas now, so makes me wonder if by bein a customer, we accidentally allowed them to keep calling us - especially when you tick “yes” to all the terms and conditions just to get through their process. It’s gone beyond just annoying at this point!

If you had performance like his, you’d be out fast. Terrible job, so don’t take it to heart when folks are unpleasant. It’s not about you, it’s just how the system works. I've been receiving calls from this number daily, and I’m absolutely fed up with it. Luckily, I have caller ID, so I simply ignore the calls by hanging up immediately. It only rings once, but I can’t help but wonder if the automated system will eventually take the hint that I have no intention of picking up. Got another ring yesterday. Good to know Iain Conn (or should I say The Con Man) is no longer around. Wonder how fat his payout will be? Have a look at the share price from when he started and now that he’s leaving. In what world could that shocking performance be seen as acceptable? He ought to think about ending himself, though usually only kind-hearted folks do that. Hope he has a ‘nice’ retirement, but I bet he’ll land an even better paying gig for his mates. On Thursday, the 26th of July 2019, just after 1 PM, I found myself plagued with persistent calls from this number, ringing me thrice daily. This nonsense has dragged on for several weeks now. I’ve chosen not to pick up, allowing my voicemail to handle their calls, but they’ve not uttered a word. If they can't even leave a message, it’s clearly not a matter of any significance nor is it someone I recognise. Not sure if this is a real British Gas number, but thanks to sites like this, we’re aware that overseas fraudsters can fake legit business or government landline numbers to make scam calls that can’t be traced. The rule of thumb: don’t share any details or agree to anything when someone calls you out of the blue. If you want to check what they’re about, hang up and then ring them back on the official number from your documents once your line is clear. Keep safe out there.
